Finance professor named interim dean of Williams College
Professor of Finance Stafford Johnson was chosen to replace former Dean Ali Malekzadeh, who left Xavier to become the Edgerley Family Dean of Business Administration at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan. Johnson takes over his new duties on July 1 and will serve in that position until Xavier completes its national search for a new dean. |

San Francisco Giants like senior first baseman Ben Thomas
Senior first baseman Ben Thomas was selected in the 34th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft by San Francisco. The Columbus, Ohio, native was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year this season and set a new career-high in home runs during his senior year. |

Eight teams earn APR Public Recognition Award
The NCAA 2009-2010 Academic Progress Rates (APR) show that Xavier student-athletes continue to be successful in the classroom as well as on the playing field. Xavier's men's and women's tennis, women's golf and volleyball, men's and women's swimming, and women's cross-country and indoor and outdoor track earned top APR scores. |

Andy's Mediterranean brings ethnic flavor to Gallagher
Andy Hajar, owner of Andy's Mediterranean Grille in Walnut Hills, has taken over Ryan's Pub and Fresh Fusions Café in the food court at the Gallagher Student Center.
He's serving a mix of Mediterranean dishes from his restaurant with Ryan's traditional menu of burgers, wraps, soups and salads. |

Film class produces documentary on Rollergirls team
Electronic media students produced a video documentary about the women who participate in the rough-and-tough world of local roller derby. The film, "The Roller Derby Queens," aired on June 3 on CET (digital channel 48.1 or Time Warner Cable channel 13) and follows members of the Cincinnati Rollergirls as they prepare for their first home game.

Former golf standout Jason Kokrak wins Southern Pines

Arthur Morthorst was a basketball legend in the late 1940s
Arthur F. Morthorst was a legendary basketball player from 1946-1950, a top scorer who was part of Xavier's first-ever postseason appearance, and the star who sank the winning shot in 1950 against Cincinnati. He never lost his love for his team, attending every home game for more than 20 years.

Lost dog tag of former professor unearthed in Texas
A dog tag belonging to Fran Uecker's father, former English Professor Wesley P. Vordenberg, was found in Texas 10 years ago. It was reunited with Uecker on June 6.
