Jordan Crawford picked in first round of NBA draft
Jordan Crawford became the 11th Xavier basketball player drafted into the National Basketball Association since 1990, being selected in the first round of the 2010 draft, the 27th overall pick. He'll play for the Atlanta Hawks. "I don't think anybody in the draft puts it in the basket any easier than Jordan Crawford," ESPN analyst Jay Bilas said in an article in the Cincinnati Enquirer. The Xavier athletics web site offers a story about Crawford as well as a video and photo gallery from his draft party.

Cintas Center getting new scoreboards, sound system
Basketball fans are going to get a good look at dunks and drives this season. On June 5, crews began tearing apart the old scoreboards, which have been in place since Cintas opened in 2000, and installing new, high-resolution replacements. The center-hung scoreboard and scoreboard on the north end zone have double the quality of the old scoreboards, while a new sound system is being added and a ribbon board is being installed around the arena's interior fascia.

Eight Xavier athletic programs were honored with Public Recognition Awards for academic excellence by the NCAA for being in the top 10 percent of latest academic performance rating, which accounts for eligibility, retention and the academic performance of student-athletes on scholarship. |

Bloomberg BusinessWeek magazine ranked the Williams College of Business among the top 30 best schools in the nation, with the business ethics program ranking 10th in the nation. |

Pope John Paul exhibit marks fifth anniversary, 12th city
May 20 marked the five-year anniversary of the opening of the multimedia art exhibit "Blessing to One Another: Pope John Paul II and the Jewish People," which features photos, video footage and artifacts depicting the late pope's relationship with the Jewish people. Since opening at Xavier, the exhibit has appearned in 11 other cities nationally. |

Xavier puts its money where its mission is with service day
The University lived up to its mission of serving others in May, as the Center for Mission and Identity organized a service day in which Xavier faculty and staff landscaped outside and hosted a garden party inside for the United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cincinnati. Xavier student, alum take soccer balls to Africa
Recent Xavier grad Luke Olson and Xavier senior Kathy Moebius are traveling from Cairo to Cape Town, South Africa this summer to watch World Cup soccer. Six baseball players earn all-conference awards
Six members of the Xavier baseball team were named to Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams. Senior outfielder Bobby Freking and junior first baseman Ben Thomas
each earned First Team accolades, while freshmen starting pitcher Jon Richard and relief pitcher Seth Willoughby were named to the All-Rookie team. Junior shortstop Phil Bauer and junior outfielder John McCambridge were voted on to the Academic All-Conference Team as well. |
