Jordan Crawford became the 11th Xavier basketball player drafted into the National Basketball Association since 1990, being selected in the first round of the 2010 draft, the 27th overall pick. He'll play for the Atlanta Hawks. "I don't think anybody in the draft puts it in the basket any easier than Jordan Crawford," ESPN analyst Jay Bilas said in an article in the Cincinnati Enquirer. The Xavier athletics web site offers a story about Crawford as well as a video and photo gallery from his draft party.

Xavier's 'retention guru' gets national attention
Adrian Schiess is a retired Lt. Colonel from the Army, so as Xavier's director for student retention, maintaining the ranks of a bunch of college kids is probably pretty easy. At least that's the way it seems. For years, Xavier's 90-plus percent freshman retention rate has surpassed every other school in the nation and brought great notoriety to the University. In June, this accomplishment was noted in Inside Higher Ed magazine when it featured Schiess, Xavier's "retention guru."

The community garden not only offers a place to grow food, but includes free workshops three times a month throughout the summer that are open to the public. Get your green thumb and check out the list of upcoming workshops.
Xavier rabbi offers prayer at Berlin Wall ceremony
Rabbi Abie Ingber, director of Xavier's Office of Interfaith Community Engagement, helped dedicate the unveiling of a 4-foot by 12-foot section of the Berlin Wall that was placed in front of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati on July 3.
Basketball players teach kids about saving money
Several members of the men's basketball team took a break from their summer studies to head to another classroom, this one at Hays-Porter Elementary where they spent the afternoon talking to about 200 students about how to save money. Cincinnati television station WLWT ran a story and slideshow about the service project.
Summer issue of Xavier magazine now online
