Alumni giving spurs national recognition
Thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends in difficult economic times, the University is one of 40 nationwide to be recognized with a 2009 WealthEngine Award for Educational Fundraising from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. The award recognizes overall performance and is based on submitted data. Other schools receiving recognition include the University of North Carolina, the University of Texas, the University of Michigan, UCLA, Villanova University and Yale University. Xavier's recognition comes as the result of the success of the To See Great Wonders campaign.
Basketball attendance No. 4 in Division I
The men's basketball home attendance ranked fourth among all NCAA Division I teams for the 2008-09 season. The rankings are based on percentage of capacity for teams with a home arena that seats at least 10,000. Xavier had a total home attendance of 151,456 for its 15 home games—an average of 10,097 fans per home game. The 98.5 percent capacity trailed only Louisville, Kansas and Wisconsin.
XLC certificate programs qualify for stimulus funding
The Xavier Leadership Center (XLC) offers several certificate programs that respond to the current economic crisis and qualify for Ohio economic stimulus funding. For qualified individuals or companies, the registration fee is covered by economic stimulus funds, and the participant materials and examination fees are often included. Pre-registration and program information available online.
Post-9/11 benefits for veterans
