Blue-and-White night
The men's basketball game versus Atlantic 10 foe Temple on Thursday, Feb. 5, is designated a "Blue-and-White" game. The game is broadcast nationally on ESPN at 7:00 p.m., and the Xavier Department of Athletics encourages all fans to wear either a blue or white shirt to the game, depending on in which section they are sitting in the arena. The event celebrates the Cintas Center's inclusion among 15 finalists in EA Sports' national "Toughest Places to Play"
competition.
Distinguished Speakers Series returns
James L. Wainscott, chairman, president and CEO of AK Steel Corp., kicks off the Williams College of Business’ Distinguished Speakers Series for 2009 on Thursday, Feb. 19. Wainscot speaks on “Competing to Win in Today’s Global Steel Business” at noon in the James and Caroline Duff Banquet Center at the Cintas Center. Attendance for this event is available only through table sponsorships. A table of eight can be reserved for $2,000. The proceeds are used for student and faculty development. Skip Prosser Classic
Wake Forest University and Xavier University announced a 10-year basketball series—known as the Skip Prosser Classic—starting next season. The first game is to be played at Wake Forest. Over the course of the series, each school will host five games. The exact dates are not yet determined.
Dance benefits Children’s Hospital
Xavier University students are dancing all night on Friday, Feb. 6, to benefit the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center during the third annual Dance Marathon. This year’s theme is “Movies.” Participants are on their feet from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 a.m. at the O’Connor Sports Center Gym on the Xavier campus, with breaks for meals and snacks every few hours. Visitors are welcome for a $5 entrance fee.
X Experience Day
High school sophomores, juniors and seniors and their families are invited to attend the X Experience Day at Xavier on Monday, Feb. 16. X Experience Day offers activities and information for students and parents exploring college. The event is free and begins with an early bird campus tour and registration with continental breakfast from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. in the Cintas Center.
Get fit
