Crosstown Shootout(s)
Grab your friends and get your Xavier gear ready. The 2009 edition of the Crosstown Shootout takes place at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Cintas Center. If you can't make it to the game, there are numerous opportunities for alumni and friends to gather and cheer the Musketeers to another victory. And, while the men's team tends to get the ink, don't miss the powerhouse women's team taking on the University of Cincinnati at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, also at the Cintas Center.
Be part of our online Christmas card
Here's the opportunity you've been waiting for. The National Alumni Association invites you to be part of this year's online Christmas card. Participation is easy—using a digital camera, have your picture taken with your arms crossed in a Xavier "X" while standing in front of a well-known building or landmark. Then e-mail the image to us. We'll choose the most creative shots to be part of the card. Merry Christmas.
Carols at Bellarmine
Campus Ministry and the Department of Music presents the annual Advent Lessons and Carols service in Bellarmine Chapel at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5. This event is free and open to the public. The service borrows its format from similar lessons and carols celebrations with roots in Anglican Britain. Advent lessons are read, and each is followed by a short hymn sung by all present.

The cost of the dinner is $45 per person with checks payable to Xavier University Music Department. Reservations are limited and can be made by calling 513-745-3801. Deadline for reservations is Monday, Dec. 7.
Xavier creates Veterans Affairs Office
Xavier has launched a Veteran Affairs Office in an effort to attract and support the growing number of military veterans returning to college as part of the GI Bill. The office has two primary functions: To promote Xavier as a military-friendly institution and attract eligible veterans; and to develop and provide support, initiatives and resources to the current population of veteran students both now and as they become alumni.

Nearly naked ... again
The Nearly Naked Mile returned to campus on Thursday, Nov. 19. This year, students shed “nearly all" their clothes—or dressed Jamaican-style—to race a mile in chilly weather, raising funds to send 13 pre-professional health students on an interfaith and medical service trip to Jamaica in January. A doctor and nurse from TriHealth, and Rabbi Abie Ingber, founding director of Xavier’s Office of Interfaith Community Engagement, will accompany students on the trip.
