New Street Name and Sculpture Carve a Fresh Niche
Ledgewood Drive is no more. It's now Francis Xavier Way, home to a new statue of the University's patron saint by artist Tom Tsuchiya. The sculpture of St. Francis Xavier completes the reconfigured entrance to campus as it welcomes visitors who pass the three newest buildings: Smith Hall, Conaton Learning Commons and Bishop Fenwick Place.

All for One "Chalk Talk" Series Features Coach Mack
The All For One Club Chalk Talk Series with Coach Chris Mack is returning for the 2011-2012 basketball season. All For One Club members in the Musketeer Society giving level of $1,000 or more are eligible to attend and obtain an inside look into how the team prepares for upcoming games. Lunch is provided and each Chalk Talk session costs $25. If you are not in the Musketeer Society of AFO and would like to receive invitations to these events, contact the All For One Club.

Student Philanthropists Give Back to Nine Nonprofits
Xavier students awarded $12,000 in grants to nine nonprofit organizations in Cincinnati in November. The philanthropy program was started in 2002. Since then, it has been embedded in 38 classes and involved 870 Xavier students. A total of $151,000 in grants has been awarded to 94 partner organizations.

Remembering the Life of Fr. Theodore Thepe, S.J.
Theodore C. Thepe, S.J., who taught chemistry and photography at Xavier for 50 years before moving to a retirement community for Jesuit priests in Michigan last year, died on Nov. 23 at age 87. A memorial Mass to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 10:00 a.m. in Bellarmine Chapel. Read more about Fr. Thepe in Xavier magazine.

Xavier Adds Aaron Williams As Temporary Coach
Xavier graduate Aaron Williams had long told his buddy and former teammate, Chris Mack, how he hoped to break into college coaching. He has that chance now. Mack asked Williams, a 14-year NBA veteran, to be a temporary coach for the Musketeers while assistant coach Kareem Richardson recovers from multiple surgeries related to a collapsed lung.

Garrett To Become a Two-Star General
University alumnus Brig. Gen. Michael Xavier Garrett has been nominated for a second star by the White House. Garrett is chief of staff of Fort Bragg and the 18th Airborne Corps. He graduated in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in criminalistics. Xavier magazine featured Garrett in the Fall 2010 issue.

Photo Exhibit Will Spotlight Alum's Curious Critters
David FitzSimmons '91 has just published a photo-essay for the toddler set, Curious Critters, and he's traveling to the Xavier campus in January to chat about this book and show off a few dozen original gallery prints. The author speaks and signs at the Gallagher Student Center at 6:00 p.m. on Jan. 19, 2012; his corresponding picture exhibit runs at Gallagher from Jan. 13 through Feb. 26. See the pictures here.

Xavier Hosts Third Annual Sustainability Day
Xavier offered students, faculty and staff a chance to learn about and experience firsthand how waste and urban water are managed in Greater Cincinnati, during the University's third annual Sustainability Day. President Michael J. Graham, S.J., addressed the attendees with comments on the place of the environmental movement within Roman Catholic thought

MBA Program Extends Reach to No. Kentucky Campus
Ten students from Northern Kentucky and Indiana are enrolled in the first cohort of Xavier's Northern Kentucky MBA program. The new MBA campus occupies a 5,700-square-foot space on Grandview Drive in Fort Mitchell, Ky.

Diamond Head Classic Features Special Alumni Events
Xavier and the All For One Club are hosting several events during the Diamond Head Classic Dec. 22-25 for those who are traveling to or are in the Honolulu area for the tournament. Stop by the University Alumni table located in the Sheraton Waikiki lobby for updated information and times on these events. Go here for more information.

Pre-game Receptions Are Held Around the Nation
Xavier alumni and friends are encouraged to participate at our Men's Basketball pre-game receptions that are being held at restaurants and museums around the country, starting in Hawaii (see related item above). On Jan. 28, the party gears up in Charlotte, N.C. Then, on Feb. 1, the festivities move to Washington, D.C. And finally, on Feb. 28, the action gets around to St. Louis.
