Princeton Review, Forbes Name Xavier Among Best
The Princeton Review, for the eighth year in a row, is featuring Xavier in its annual guide to the best colleges in the nation. Xavier is named one of America's best undergraduate institutions in the 2012 edition of The Best 376 Colleges. The guide also names the University one of the Best of the Midwest, one of 153 schools recommended in the 12-state midwestern region. The new Forbes list of America's Best Colleges, meanwhile, places Xavier at 184th in the country. The annual list focuses on educational outcomes and not reputations. Forbes ranks Xavier at 157 among private colleges, at 36 among Midwest colleges, and 16th best among Master's colleges.

Athletic Director Bobinski Named NCAA Tournament Chair
Xavier athletic director Mike Bobinski is taking over one of the biggest, most influential committees in sports. Bobinski will become the chair of the Division I Men's Basketball Committee for the 2012-2013 season. Following formal approval by the NCAA, Bobinski's term of office will begin in September 2012.

Business College Trading Center Gets Official Name
The trading room at the Williams College of Business is being named the Fifth Third Trading Center, in recognition of a Fifth Third Bank Foundation grant to underwrite operating costs. The trading room has become a signature benefit of the college by offering training on 44 Bloomberg terminals, the largest of its kind in the country among universities.

Chatfield College President Named HSA Chairperson
Former Chatfield College president Nancy Linenkugel is the new chair of the Health Services Administration program. Linenkugel, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis and an HSA alumna, assumes her duties on Aug. 16. She succeeds Ida Critelli Schick, who retired in May after almost two decades at the University. Prior to serving as president of Chatfield College, a small Catholic college in St. Martin, Ohio, she served as an administrator at Saint Vincent Health Center in Erie, Pa., the St. John Medical Center in Steubenville, Ohio, and at Providence Hospital and the Providence Health System in Sandusky, Ohio.

Five Xavier Students Head to Pope's World Youth Day
Five Xavier students are attending Pope Benedict XVI's World Youth Day in Madrid. The students are traveling through Aug. 22 with James Riordan, S.J., assistant director of the Dorothy Day Center for Faith and Justice. These are the first Xavier students to participate in World Youth Day since its inception in 1985.

Sean Rhiney New Director for Eigel Center
Sean Rhiney is the new director of the Eigel Center for Community-Engaged Learning. Rhiney, a 1991 alumnus, is the former managing editor of Soapbox Cincinnati, a part of the Issue Media Group of publications, and serves as vice president of the Over-the-Rhine Foundation board of trustees.

Seminar at Alumni Center Focuses on Second Half of Life
"The Second Fifty: Spirituality in Later-Life Issues," a program of reflection and discussion for alumni, spouses, retirees and friends (age 50 and up) begins Oct. 4.
