Harris, Phillips are first-round picks in WNBA draft
Xavier standout senior, Amber Harris, went to the Minnesota Lynx as the No. 4 pick of the April 11 WNBA draft. Ta'Shia Phillips was the No. 8 selection, going to the Atlanta Dream. Both players dominated on the court during their final season with the Muskies. Harris was the 2011 A-10 Player of the Year and Phillips was the Defensive Player of the Year.

March prooves maddening for Muskies, McGuff bids adieu
Xavier men's and women's basketball both capped impressive seasons with NCAA appearances, but didn't advance beyond the second round. The men's team lost 55-65 to Marquette University. The women fell to Louisville, 75-85. Women's head coach Kevin McGuff resigned from Xavier to take a position at the University of Washington. He went 214-73 in nine seasons with the Muskies. |

Basketball Banquets honor teams

1st Lt. Michael L. Runyan 5K Run/Walk
Dust off your sneakers and get ready to run for a cause. The 1st Lt. Michael L. Runyan 5K and one-mile fun run/walk, will take place at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, May 29, in Geneva, Ohio. Runyan, a 2008 Xavier graduate in criminal justice, was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq last summer. He was 24 years old. Register online. Arizona country club invites senior alumni for free golf
In March, the Xavier women's golf team played a college invitational tournament at the Rio Verde Country Club near Phoenix. They made such an impression that the club is sending out an open invitation to all senior Xavier alumni (50 years and older) to schedule a tee time for a free round of golf in sunny Arizona. Xavier takes you out to the ballpark, peanuts are on you
Alumni are invited to watch the Reds play the Florida Marlins during the Xavier Night at the Ballpark at 7:10 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Great American Ballpark. Xavier is selling discounted tickets in the Gallagher Student Center for three different areas of the park. Outfield bleacher seats are $8, mezzanine-level seats are $14 and infield box seats are $27. The ticket price includes a donation to the American Cancer Association's Relay for Life. |

The 2011 Xavier Launch-a-Business competition is under way. Open to alumni, current students, faculty and staff and the community, X-LAB awards winners with the professional counsel of 65 professors, 500 executive mentors and 1,000 MBA students at the Williams College of Business. Applications are accepted through May 16.
