As fiscal year 2012 comes to a close, I would like to share some details of another record-breaking year for Women of Excellence (WOX). WOX hosted several events this past year fulfilling our goal to strategically engage women in the Xavier community. We grew to 105 Giving Circle Members (a 22% increase from the prior year) and awarded $66,488 to 11 grants which were voted on by our members. In the 4 years that our Giving Circle has been in existence, we have raised over a quarter of a million dollars! Finally we achieved what we once thought of as a stretch goal - creating a Women of Excellence Endowed Scholarship that will carry this wonderful group's name in perpetuity.
As we begin planning for the year ahead, we welcome your insights and thoughts on how we as a community can continue to focus on our mission to honor, extend and advance the legacy of Xavier and Edgecliff's extraordinary women graduates, as well as provide opportunities for women to grow as organizational and philanthropic leaders for the University. "PASSING THE TORCH"
Mary Beth Clary '80, a partner at Porter, Wright, Morris and Arthur, LLP in Naples, Florida, exited the role of Chair Women of Excellence Council as of June 30th. We want to extend our sincere gratitude for all that Mary Beth has done for Women of Excellence and Xavier in this role. She is not going far though as she will serve in the capacity of Immediate Past Chair.
We welcome Pamela Zipperer-Davis, President of ZD Management, Inc., as the new Chair of the WOX Council effective July 1st. ZD Management, Inc. is a healthcare consulting firm that has been in business since 1996. She represents large medical groups, hospitals and health systems in a variety of transactional and operational matters. She holds a BSBA and an MHA from Xavier University and has worked in the health care industry for 25 years. Pamela most recently served as Vice Chair of the Council and Chair of the Mentoring Committee.

2012 WOX GRANT RECIPIENTS
Eleven projects are receiving more than $66,000 during the upcoming academic year as part of the annual WOX grants awards. Winners were announced and recognized at a luncheon in April.

MENTOR/MENTEE OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to Peggy Gruenke, Chief Operating Officer at Godbey & Associates Attorneys at Law, 1981 Computer Science & History Xavier graduate and Jennifer Perri, Class of 2013, Organizational Communication major for being selected as the 2012 Xavier University Mentoring Program Mentor and Mentee of the Year during the Annual End of the Year Program on April 19.
