Women
of Excellence was created by University President Michael J. Graham,
S.J., to honor, extend and advance the legacy of Xavier and Edgecliff
women. The Women of Excellence Council, a committee of the President's
Advisory Council, is dedicated to providing opportunities for women to
be connected and engaged with the University, encouraging them to grow
as organizational and philanthropic leaders for Xavier. This quarterly
newsletter provides information about programs and events and invites
women to get involved with the University community. |

South Asian Society presents Midwest Masala

Xavier
University's South Asian Society (SAS) is committed to introducing
students to South Asian cultures. One of the most popular events
presented by SAS is Midwest Masala, a South Asian intercollegiate dance
competition that promotes Indian culture through the fusion of
traditional eastern cultural dance and western influences. The fourth
annual Midwest Masala will take place on Saturday, April 4 at 7:00 p.m.
in the Cintas Center. During this year's event, Xavier's Muskie Masti
competes against schools across the country including Drexel University
Dhoom (Broadstreet Badshahz), University of Toledo, University of
Michigan Taal, Case Western Reserve University Ekta, University of
Illinois–Chicago Dhamaal, Indiana University and Northwestern
University Mirch Masala. Come and enjoy an evening of South Asian
culture including a full Indian dinner buffet for just $10. Tickets can be ordered online through ticketmaster. |
Mentoring News
Since
October, the Xavier University Mentoring program has made 43 matches
for liberal arts majors seeking mentors. Of current mentors, 52 percent
are either Women of Excellence members or people referred to the
program by WOX members. While the majority of mentors live in the
Cincinnati area, the flexibility of this program allows for mentors to
serve throughout the United States. We are also proud to have our first
international mentor, who comes to us from France.
Thus
far, participants have heard about the program through word of mouth.
However, this semester the Career Services Center launches a
comprehensive marketing campaign for the mentoring program. We expect
an increase in the number of mentor requests and we hope to have an
increase in mentor applications.
Currently, we have 11
unmatched students in need of mentors. Review the details around these
students as listed below and, if you are interested in learning more
about a particular student or the mentoring program in general, please
contact the program's director, Bethany Kilgore at 513-745-3764 or kilgoreb@xavier.edu.

Women's Center Interns Attend Interdisciplinary Conference
The
Xavier University Women's Center is pleased to sponsor four students
