Becoming a Mentor

Being a mentor is an opportunity for you to share your personal and professional experience, knowledge and skills with a Xavier student who is preparing to enter the professional world. You will act as a coach and role model with the intent to promote your student's personal and professional growth. It is your chance to advise and impact the next generation of business leaders.

The program is structured and designed with the limited schedule of an assiduous executive in mind. Your available time and the student's level of need drives the nature of the mentor-student relationship. There is no orientation or training session, no scheduled regimen of meetings and events, no pre-determined cycle length, and no required activities or tasks.

To assure Xavier students a positive and beneficial experience, we ask that mentors possess the following:

  • amicable and nurturing personality
  • at least five years of professional experience
  • possess a network of friends, associates, colleagues, co-workers and family from whom you can draw on as resources to assist your student mentee
