In his role overseeing the X-LAB Competition, Joseph Carter draws on his 27 years of experience in business leadership positions.
Carter served as director of operational excellence for Ingersoll-Rand Co., a global industrial manufacturer and service provider. He was responsible for operational strategy development and deployment for 14 sites in North America, Europe and Asia. Carter also was a faculty member for Ingersoll-Rand's internal corporate university, where he trained and mentored executives and mid-level managers in business and operational methodologies.
In addition, he worked in management jobs for Huffy Corp., Federal-Mogul and Harley-Davidson. Plus, he has 10 years experience as an international business consulting manager.
Since 2007, he has taught management and entrepreneurship at the undergraduate and graduate levels at the Williams College of Business. In 2009, he received the Dean?s Award for Excellence in Teaching. And in 2010, he received the Executive MBA Professor of the Year Award.
Earlier, he obtained his bachelor degree and Executive MBA from the Williams College of Business.
Dean Ali Malekzadeh asked Carter to direct the Entrepreneur Center because of the depth and breadth of his experience in business and academia.
"He is an accomplished business leader and faculty member who understands how faculty members, students and the business community can contribute to make the Entrepreneur Center an effective place to spur business growth," Malekzadeh says.
Carter is excited about leading the effort. "I see this as a way to attract, develop, and retain top-notch and culturally diverse talent in Greater Cincinnati," he says. "This will help the region thrive."
