Department Overview

Xavier's department of management and entrepreneurship seeks to equip its management majors, upon graduation, with a knowledge of the principles and practices for the effective operation of the business organization. Students majoring in management are prepared to apply sound philosophical principles to the wide range of problems encountered by management. Students are then prepared to enter the business community with a working knowledge of management functions.

Students majoring in human resources are educated to critically analyze human resource issues from economic, political, psychological, and legal perspectives so that they make positive contributions in their profession, at their workplace, to their community and to the global society.

Ranked one of the top 25 entrepreneurial campuses in the nation by Princeton Review, the entrepreneurship major and minor help students develop skills that prepare them to identify new product or service opportunities, develop workable plans for capitalizing on those opportunities, assume personal risk, and take the initiative in creating and managing the enterprises that those plans envision. Within the classroom, students learn to identify personal, ethical, marketing, financial and operational factors relevant to success or failure. Outside the classroom, students build a solid portfolio of skills and accomplishments through real-world projects.
