Areas of Expertise: Other Information: Areas of Expertise: Retailing Other Information: Dr. Burns is an active researcher. He has had over 65 journal articles published in such journals as Psychology and Marketing, Journal of Consumer Affairs, Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, Journal of Marketing Management, International Journal of Advertising, Review of Business, Journal of Social Psychology, International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Shopping Center Research and Journal of Consumer Satisfaction, Dissatisfaction and Complaining Behavior. He has co-authored several books, has authored numerous video segments and cases, and has over 200 research presentations. His research interests lie in the areas of retailing and shopping centers, ethics, and the effects of the consumer culture. Dr. Burns is on the editorial boards of numerous journals and is currently president of the American Collegiate Retailing Association (ACRA). His teaching interests lie primarily in the area of retailing. He takes a very applied approach to his courses. The success of his teaching can be seen in his students winning first place in an international retail case competition twice. Dr. Burns is looking forward to continued improvement in the ability of the Department of Marketing to provide excellent education in marketing to Xavier students. Building on the past and looking to the future, the Department of Marketing at Xavier University strives to provide students of marketing with the skills necessary to pursue successful careers in businesses and organizations consistent with the mission of the Williams College of Business and of Xavier University.
