Career Development
Overview
Williams College of Business (WCB) students, equipped with
Xavier's liberal arts program accompanying their strong business
education, are well-prepared to meet career goals and improve
society, consistent with the Jesuit tradition. Turning an undergraduate
education into gainful employment and the start of a successful
career path requires attention to much more than just class
assignments. Career development is a four-year process that
requires initiative and motivation in activities, work experience
and leadership roles outside of the classroom in addition to
demonstrated academic success.
The Williams College of Business provides students with a four-year
plan guaranteed to position students to define and meet their
career goals, if they take full advantage of what the College
and Xavier have to offer. Through innovative programs including
the Executive Mentor Program and the Business Profession Program,
the Williams College of Business strives to help students to
make informed decisions on career options, develop skills to
take them through a lifetime of job and career changes, and
complement their education with professional savvy to ensure
they are stand-out job candidates and employees. The Williams
College of Business provides students who have initiative and
self-motivation with the inspiration to succeed through connections
to top business leaders.

Business Profession Program...
the WCB Passport to Success
Success does not have to be viewed as foreign territory yet the path
to getting there may seem elusive for some 18-22 year old students.
The Business Profession Program is designed to provide a structured
way in which students can gain knowledge, skills and networking contacts
to complement their education and to educate them on the fundamentals
of the working world. Offering programs that go above and beyond typical
career workshops, the Business Profession Program gives William College
of Business undergraduates a competitive edge in entering the labor
market.

activities of the Business Profession Program. |
Work Experience and Networking
When surveyed each year by the National Association of Colleges and
Employers, employers indicate that in addition to qualities such as
strong communication skills, honesty/integrity, interpersonal skills,
motivation/initiative, strong work ethic and teamwork skills, among
other sought-after qualities, they are seeking candidates with real-world
experience. By gaining practical experience students have the opportunity
to test a potential field of interest, learn professional behavior,
and practice the interpersonal communication and teamwork that employers
value highly. Internship and co-op positions often lead to full-time
job offers with the same employer.

Program here.
Networking is the key to learning more about the world of work than
what one's parents or neighbors do and to uncovering the "hidden
job market." Through the Executive Mentor Program, students gain
access to dozens of professionals through their own executive mentor,
providing a wealth of information on career options and avenues for
an effective job search.
