International applicants must submit their admission information by the following deadlines: Fall term, May 1; Spring term, Sept. 1. The fall term begins at the end of every August. The spring term begins at the start of each January. International applicants are not accepted for the summer term or for the two half terms of October and March. Top What information must an international applicant submit to be considered for admission?
For your convenience, the application for international applicants to the Xavier MBA program can be found only online. Top Is work experience required of international applicants for admission to the Xavier MBA program?No. Work experience is not required of international applicants to the Xavier MBA program. However, work experience is preferred of all applicants to the Xavier MBA program. Top Is the World Education Service evaluation required?Yes. Xavier University does not have on-sight transcript evaluation; thus all applicants must have their transcripts evaluated by the World Education Service. A course-by-course evaluation is required. For additional Information visit the World Education Service website. The evaluation takes the international education and places it into the American higher education structure, providing a cumulative grade point average, which is necessary for the admission decision. Top What is the minimum TOEFL score required?A paper based TOEFL score of 550 or computer based test of 213 or higher is required for admission consideration. Top What is the minimum GMAT score required?The GMAT required for international applicants is dependent upon the cumulative undergraduate grade point average. However, on average, the GMAT score submitted by applicants is 550. In addition, GMAT scores cannot be lower than 400, must have a quantitative score in the 25th percentile or higher, and must have an Analytical Writing score of a 3.0 or higher. Top Are official score reports required for the GMAT and TOEFL?Yes. Official score reports must be submitted for admission consideration. Copies are not acceptable for admission consideration. Top Can an international applicant be admitted to the MBA program without the GMAT or TOEFL?No. The GMAT and TOEFL are required for admission consideration. They must be submitted with all other admission materials for an admission decision to be made. Top Is provisional admission possible for international applicants to the MBA program?No. Provisional admission is not possible for international applicants to the MBA program. Only full admission - requiring all admission materials - is possible for international applicants. Top Does my undergraduate degree have to be in business to apply to the MBA program?No. Undergraduate degrees in any major are acceptable for admission consideration. Top Are three-year bachelor's degrees acceptable for admission consideration?Three-year bachelor's degrees do not meet the minimum undergraduate educational requirement. If an applicant holds a three-year bachelor's degree, the applicant must then also hold a master's degree or postgraduate diploma from an accredited university or college. If the applicant does not hold an advanced degree or diploma, the applicant may then take a year of undergraduate study (24 credit hours of courses) to meet the 4th year of the undergraduate education requirement. Top Can an international applicant take the fourth year of required undergraduate educational study at Xavier University?Yes. The applicant can apply as an undergraduate Pre-MBA student. Admission to the Pre-MBA program is separate and distinct from the MBA program. Admission to the Pre-MBA program does not guarantee admission to the MBA program. International applicants apply to the Pre-MBA program through the center for adult and part-time student.
Yes. Xavier University offers an excellent program in English as a Second Language (ESL). Admission to the ESL program is separate and distinct from the MBA program. Top From whom should the letters of recommendation come? Two letters of recommendation are required for international applicants to the MBA program. The letters should be written by an academic or professional reference. Top What is the cost of the Xavier MBA program for international applicants?MBA tuition can be found at www.xavier.edu/costs
Also, at this time any international student applying for a F1 study visa at an American embassy will be charged a $95 processing fee. Top If an international applicant has a family member to live with upon arrival in the USA, can the amount of money needed for the financial statement decrease?Yes. If the international applicant has a family member to live with upon arrival in the USA, up to $5000 can be subtracted from the total above. However, notarized proof of the living arrangement must be presented and approval must be granted by the director of international student services. Top Can an international applicant be admitted to Xavier University without providing financial documents?Yes. An international applicant can be admitted to Xavier University without providing financial documents. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED, because an international student cannot begin their studies at Xavier until a F1 visa is issued. A F1 visa will not be issued without an I-20 form from the director of international student services at Xavier. An I-20 form will not be considered or issued without financial papers. Thus, financial papers are essential to admission to the Xavier MBA program. Top Are loans available from Xavier University for international MBA students?No. Xavier University does not offer international students loans for their tuition. Top Are scholarships available for international MBA students?Yes. Partial tuition scholarships are available for international MBA students. Full scholarships ARE NOT available for international MBA students. Any recipient of a partial tuition scholarship must be fully admitted to the Xavier MBA program. The application deadline is April 30th for awards for the next academic year. Partial tuition scholarships usually range from $200-$500. Information on MBA scholarships cam be found at www.xavier.edu/williams/mba/working-professional/financing.cfm Top Are graduate assistantships available for international MBA students?Yes. International MBA students may apply and be considered for graduate assistantships positions upon admission to the MBA program. However, graduate assistantship positions are only awarded to fully admitted MBA students. The application deadline for MBA graduate assistantship positions is May 1st. Graduate assistantship positions are awarded based upon qualifications. They are not awarded based upon need. MBA graduate assistantship positions usually cover 9 hours of tuition a semester, require 10 hours of work a week, and pay an hourly wage of $6 an hour; however, this information is subject to change. Information on MBA graduate assistantships can be found at www.xavier.edu/williams/mba/working-professional/financing.cfm. Top May international MBA students apply for graduate assistantships outside the MBA program?Yes. International MBA students may apply for graduate assistantship positions outside the MBA program. They may do this through the office of graduate services. Top Is on-campus housing available for international MBA students?Yes. On-campus housing in Xavier University apartments and houses is available for international MBA students. Please visit the Student Life web site for more information. However, most international students live off campus. They are assisted in living off campus by the office of international student services. Top How long will it take an international MBA student to complete the MBA program?It takes most international MBA students two full years to complete their MBA studies at Xavier. However, length of time in the MBA program depends upon the number of classes needed by the student and if the student wants to specialize in a particular area of concentration. Top Can an international MBA student attend the MBA program part-time?No. All international MBA students holding F1 visas must attend the MBA program on a full-time basis. Full time student status is defined as 9 or more credit hours of courses a semester. Top When are Xavier MBA classes held?All Xavier MBA courses are held in the evenings or on Saturday. All evening courses begin at 6:00 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. Top Where can information on the Xavier MBA program be found?The Xavier MBA curriculum is clearly outlined at http://www.xavier.edu/mba/. Top What courses are waivable in the MBA program?The only courses able to be waived in the MBA program are the Foundation Skills (800 level courses). At most 15 credit hours can be waived for incoming students. 900 level MBA courses cannot be waived in the MBA program.
Concentrations provide students with an understanding in a certain area of study. It does not provide the student with a master's degree in that area, but with a solid foundation upon which the student may build or explore new career areas.
No. There is not an International MBA Student Association at Xavier. However, International MBA students at Xavier participate in social, cultural, and educational activities planned by international student services. Top How large is the Xavier MBA program?Currently there are approximately 1000 students in the Xavier MBA program. Of these, approximately 10 percent are full time students and approximately 3 percent international. There are many international MBA students in the program who attend part-time since they are on work visas in the USA. Top Where is Xavier University?Xavier University is located in the mid-western United States in the state of Ohio in the city of Cincinnati. Top What does it mean that Xavier University is a Jesuit University?Xavier University was founded and is run by the Roman Catholic Society of Jesus, which a religious order of priests founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola. The goal of a Jesuit and Catholic education is integration of the intellectual dimension of learning and the spiritual experience of the student, along with the development of a strong system of personal moral values. Such an education strives for the formation of the student's mind and heart into a habit of reaching out to the needs of today's and tomorrow's global society and in the process of reaching out to God. Xavier MBA does NOT offer internships or co-ops for international MBA students. Any type of opportunity such as this would be coordinated through the Professional Development Center (www.xavier.edu/williams/corporate_connections) All international MBA students may utilize the Professional Development Center (if approval is granted from the director of international student services) and for full-time employment upon graduation. Most international students are eligible for a year of practical training work experience after their graduation from a graduate degree program. Practical training is applied for and coordinated through the office of international student services. Top |
