She served as chair of the department of marketing from 2000-2002. Beginning in the Spring of 2002 through the fall of 2005 Walker served as a member of the University's administration; first as the Associate Academic Vice President and subsequently as the Acting Vice President for Information Resources.

Her educational background includes a BS from Miami University with a major in Marketing and a Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati specializing in Marketing with a minor in Social Psychology. Walker also has an MBA from Xavier University with a concentration in finance.

Dr. Walker's research has been published in the Journal of Business ethics, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of Promotion Management, Journal of Advertising Research, and Journal of Professional Services Marketing.

Walker's teaching philosophy is rooted in combining the latest developments in scholarly work with practical applications that can be related to work experiences. Prior to pursing an academic career, she worked in the retailing field as a buyer for McAlpin's Department Stores, which was then a part of the Mercantile group and which subsequently became part of Dillards. She is also experienced in marketing research and brand management through various assignments while working at the Drackett Company, then a division of Bristol-Myers Squibb. Her goal in the classroom is to apply academic concepts to real world application. She also believes her mission is to educate in a way that sparks excitement and enthusiasm in students.
