Why the XMBA?
“92% of graduates are extremely likely to recommend the XMBA program to a friend or colleague.”
Reason #1: Jesuit Mission
Founded in 1831, Xavier University is one of the oldest Catholic universities in the nation and is deeply embedded in the Jesuit tradition. In particular, the mission of the Williams College of Business is to “educate students of business, enabling them to improve organizations and society, consistent with the Jesuit tradition.” In other words, the Xavier MBA graduate will have a strong foundation in ethics and social responsibility.

“I have learned so much that is directly applicable to my work”
– Anne Chance, Class of 2008
Reason #3: Unique XMBA Design
In particular, the XMBA program is designed for experienced professionals who have demanding work schedules and who are on track for leadership positions within their organization. Because we are so selective for the XMBA program, we guarantee XMBA participants will be surrounded by the most experienced and brightest student peers. In fact, XMBA students have an average of 21 years of work experience, including 14 years of management experience. Additionally, for a program that frequently blends classroom instruction with group projects and real world experience, the value of having a strong cohort and support system distinctive to the XMBA program is immeasurable. The XMBA program is the only program that will offer this unique learning environment.
“The opportunity to network with other high caliber XMBA students has been phenomenal, without this program I would have never crossed paths with the majority of the students.”
– Amy Kappen, Class of 2008
The characteristic makeup of each cohort can vary significantly, but each is consistently diverse in terms of experience and backgrounds. Students have consisted of small business owners to executives within Fortune 500 companies. Some come from engineering backgrounds with no formal business background, while others have been operating within the business world for forty plus years. As diverse as the groups may be the common characteristic is the desire to succeed and the commitment to change.

Reason #4: The XMBA Family
XMBA students are welcomed into the Williams College of Business family of faculty, staff, and administrators from day one of the program. As family members rooted in the Jesuit tradition, we encourage the progression of the XMBA students throughout the program by offering as much assistance and support as we can. That’s why we handle all of the administrative details including registering XMBA students for classes, purchasing campus parking permits, ordering and delivering textbooks, and providing lunch during class meetings. As part of the family, XMBA students also have access to the same facilities and services as faculty and staff which no other students can enjoy, including the Williams College of Business kitchen stocked with coffee, soda and snacks. Furthermore, the classroom for the XMBA program is equipped with all the technological needs a student would desire including wireless access to the Xavier University network for personal laptops. During orientation we even bring in a team of network engineers to make sure every student’s laptop is properly configured to work on campus. The bottom line is that we understand the demands of the XMBA student and we try to make everything else as simple as possible so that you can focus on your education without worrying about the administrative details of your graduate degree.
The family treatment doesn’t end with graduation. XMBA alumni join a strong and talented group of over 1,000 XMBA graduates. Even as CEOs, C-level executives, or retirees, many XMBA alumni find the time to stay connected with the Williams College of Business and the XMBA program through various activities and events. As an XMBA alum, this powerful network of professionals in addition to continuous executive education opportunities will be at your fingertips.
“The work is tough, but the people at Williams take care of a lot of the details. They gave me what I needed.”

Reason #5: Your ROI
Despite the numbers that we try to associate with earning your MBA, the one true fact is that the value of your education, and in particular a Masters in Business Administration from a local, Jesuit institution is immeasurable. It’s difficult to put into number the amount of knowledge and skills you will gain. It’s even more difficult to measure how that knowledge and skill will translate into a return. While you will see quick results from the moment you start the program, the true value of your education at Xavier will be much clearer in the long run.
