This half day conference will feature a variety of speakers who will engage with you on issues of Leadership, Career Planning, Family, and Healthy Living - just some of the elements a woman manages every day.

Fifth Third Trading Center Hours

The Fifth Third Trading Center is a student-managed facility committed to the study and application of finance. Summer hours for the center are as follows:

Monday-Thursday 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Friday-Saturday Closed
Sunday 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Duration: Monday May 13, 2013 to Thursday August 8, 2013

In addition to the above evening hours these morning hours will be available starting in July

Monday-Thursday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Duration: Monday July 1, 2013 - Thursday August 8, 2013

Exceptions: SMH 106 will be closed Memorial Day and July 4th

Seeking Business in Need of Strategic Consulting

Xavier University's Finance Department is seeking a greater Cincinnati-based business to participate in its Finance 488-Applied Financial Strategy class during the spring semester of 2014. The participating business will benefit from a 17-week strategic planning process led by two Xavier University Finance Professors, and staffed by fourth-year finance students. This strategic planning engagement will help the participating business refine strategic approaches to and action plans for a current business problem or opportunity while providing valuable real life experience to the participating students.

Qualifications of the participating business:

  • $3 million to $5 million in sales.
  • Minimum of 3 years of established financial statements.
  • At least one operating location in the greater Cincinnati area.
  • Products or manufacturing businesses are preferred.
  • Ability for business personnel to work with the class 2-3 hours per week over course of the semester (one hour during scheduled class time).
  • Demonstrated interest by the business in developing the skills of the students involved in the engagement.

There is no cost to the participating business except for the time expended with the class and in follow-up meetings.

At the conclusion of the semester's engagement, the students will deliver a board room presentation of the strategic plan developed during the engagement as well as a formal strategic planning document.

The participating business will be selected by November 15, 2013.

The Xavier Leadership Center is Now Offering CMA

The Xavier Leadership Center is now offering CMA - Certified Management Accounting - certification. According to Dr. Sandra Richtermeyer, chair of the XU Williams College of Business, the CMA designation offers a track for individuals in accounting & finance who want to do something different from a CPA track. The CMA has become a global passport as it is recognized as a professional designation that crosses borders but maintains industry standards. Anyone interested in the CMA should attend the CMA information session on August 13th from 5 p.m. -7 p.m. at the Cintas Center. Visit http://xavierleadershipcenter.com/ to register.

Risk Mitigation Strategies for IT Enabled Transformation

Online MKTG 500 - Syllabus now available

The syllabus is now available for an online section of MKTG 500 running this summer. The course will run from 7/1-8/9 with Dr. David Burns and there are no set meetings for this class.

Online MKTG 630 - Syllabus now available

MKTG 630, Service Marketing, is open for enrollment. This course will meet 8am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday for the weekends of July 20-21 and August 3-4. Attendance is required for both weekends.

Startup Weekend is a non-profit, community-building event that brings together entrepreneurs of different backgrounds, including software developers, marketers, designers, and other enthusiasts. They gather to to pitch ideas, form teams and start companies in just 54 hours. The participants that attend have 60 seconds to make a pitch (optional), the pitches are whittled down to the top ideas, and then teams form around the ideas to come out with several developed companies or projects. Finally, the weekend culminates with demonstrations in front of an audience of judges and potential investors.

The event will be held the weekend of May 31st.

This is Cincinnati's 4th Startup Weekend, but the event occurs all over the world throughout the year and they have been very successful, and you can find more info at cincinnati.startupweekend.org.
