Hershey Marketing, Planning, Strategy Internship Opportunity

The MBA program was contacted by Sean Maurer of the Hershey’s Company.

He shared an internship opportunity (UNPAID) that is available to a XU MBA student over summer 2013.

The goal of the internship is to help develop the Scharffen Berger premium chocolate brand in Cincinnati. The summer associate will be based in Cincinnati and will work with Sean via in person meeting, Skype or similar medium, phone, email, etc.

The summer associate will – working directly with Sean - develop and begin to implement a grassroots marketing plan that encompasses a 360 degree plan to increase awareness, equity and trial. This plan will likely include evaluating sampling, pop-up stores, festivals, brand advocates, digital/online, and other marketing vehicles.

The position is unpaid and will last 8-12 weeks. Expenses will be covered.

This opportunity was similarly offered in Seattle and there is planned overlap between the Cinti-based summer associate and the Seattle team (that has a framework in place for the Seattle grassroots marketing).

Anyone interested in the opportunity should send their resume to Jen Bush at bush@xavier.edu by May 10th. All resumes will be forwarded to Hershey’s for review and interviews will take place from there on in.

NOTE, even though this is an unpaid internship, the opportunities it present are INVALUABLE! Students interested in marketing & planning & strategy should consider this opportunity.

7 Questions Great Candidates Ask

Kazim Ladimeji | April 18, 2013 | Posted on LinkedIn

At the end of the interview when you, the interviewer, ask the candidate, “Do you have any questions for us?” it’s often hard to know what to expect. Will the candidate ask a couple of superficial questions just to be polite, or will he or she ask deep, probing questions?

If a candidate appears to be simply going through the motions at this point, this is often a sign of a candidate who is not fully engaged with your brand and the hiring process. On the other hand, a candidate who probes and asks questions of substance is a more engaged candidate. The person is trying to form a picture of your business to see if it is the right cultural fit, job fit, technical fit and career fit for him or her. This more discerning approach is likely to be taken by the best candidates. But, what questions are these more engaged candidates likely to ask and how should you respond?

Click here to read about the out seven interview questions that great candidates might ask and given some suggested responses.

Congratulations to our MBA May Graduates

Xavier’s part-time MBA program has continued to receive accolades from publications such as U.S. News & World Report, Bloomberg Businessweek and The Princeton Review. These rankings directly compliment our MBA students. It was achieved by the accurate student information provided regarding employment and salary status.

Obtaining accurate information on you and your fellow MBA graduates is critical to the success of our program. We need your help in this endeavor. That is why I am asking for a few moments of your time to complete the following employment/salary survey, with the goal of additional national recognition in publications such as The Wall Street Journal. The survey should take less than 15 minutes of your time and will make it possible for us to get started on our journey for the most widely recognized and respected MBA degree in the region. A return envelope is included for your convenience.

Please note that your responses are strictly confidential and will be reported in “group form” only; you will never be individually identified on any report. The final results are shared with department chairs, university administrators and are frequently requested by accreditation entities, college publications and even employers.

Your success is our success. Our ranking is a tribute to you. If you would like to complete the electronic version of this survey please use this link: http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22GBLE74YT7
