Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Cincinnati Tournament

  • First Meeting: Monday, November 12, 2012 in the Dean’s Conference Room (#308) at 5:00pm.
  • Deadline for Registration: Monday, November 12, 2012.

The ACG Tournament is a hands-on experience to utilize your Finance knowledge to gain an expertise in a corporate merger or acquisition. This is a great opportunity to:

  • Build your resume and academic credentials so that you stand out during the economic recovery, while showcasing your M&A savvy.
  • Meet and develop relationships with potential employers, team members and mentors.
  • Interact and network with leading finance professionals and organizations
  • Design a “deliverable” that can be used for networking and interviewing for positions.
  • Develop effective presentation skills.
  • Attend pre-competition seminars on Commercial Lending, Delivering a Sales Pitch, and Strategic Speaking.
  • Experience the opportunity to apply critical academic skills to a highly realistic M&A case study

Professional Development Center

The Professional Development Center (PDC) is the career resource center located in the Williams College of Business and supports current MBA students and MBA alumni. The Center offers a variety of professional development services including personalized one-to-one career coaching, resume writing, interview preparation and job search assistance.

Our staff members are available for in-person appointments and available to talk by phone or email. We aim to assist students in creating a strategic job search plan that works for them. Whether you are a Career Starter, Career Advancer or Career Changer we have resources to assist you along the journey.

One-to-One Career Coaching appointments are available for currently enrolled MBA students and MBA alumni who wish to discuss any aspect of their career or job search – from career decision-making to evaluating job offers. To schedule an appointment with an MBA Career Coach, please email mbapdc@xavier.edu or call 513-745-4213. *Appointments are available Monday - Thursday.

Open Advising Day

Need help with your schedule? MBA Advisors will be in the office on Saturday, November 3rd from 8:30-1pm to assist students with their spring schedules. No appointments will be necessary.

Ladies and Gentlemen: stop in before class to ensure that your future is bright. Lisa Ciccia of Fidelity Investments will speak about the critical investment basics.

WCB Study Abroad for MBA - Korea Business School ranked by the Financial Times

WCB has entered into collaborative agreements with two globally ranked MBA programs in South Korea. Students who are interested in exploring semester-long study abroad in these two universities are welcome to contact the Center for International Business.

The two universities are:

KAIST Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology http://www.kaist.edu/edu.html

The Executive MBA Program at Korea University Business School ranks 12th out of 100 comparable programs around the world, according to the Financial Times.

Professional Development Center Networking Reception: A Collaboration with the Xavier Women’s MBA Association

November 29th, 5-7 pm/Surkamp Family Conference Center – Alumni Center at Xavier

Williams College of Business MBAs, Juniors, Seniors and alumni are invited to this holiday Networking Reception. This is a great opportunity to connect with employers from the Greater Cincinnati area, fellow students and alums, faculty and staff.

The event will kick off with a discussion on effective networking tips by Maggie McClanahan, Associate Client Manager at Nielsen – and there will be plenty of time to put those tips to work throughout the night!

In the spirit of holiday giving, there will be a number of Xavier items as door prizes for attendees, including tickets to a Xavier Men’s Basketball Game (game TBD).

Attendees are also encouraged to bring donations for our featured non-profit, Faces without Places. This organization works to provide funding and educational resources to the thousands of children attending school in the Cincinnati area that are experiencing homelessness.

Session Four: Take Ownership of Your Career - Develop a Roadmap for the Future November 17th – 9:00 am – noon, Schiff Conference Center (Cintas Center)

Feeling stuck in your career? Unsure about what the future holds for you? You are not alone! An overwhelming number of professionals in the marketplace feel disengaged with their current career or a lack of control in what their futures may hold. In today's economic environment, it is important for professionals to take a proactive approach to career planning - determining where you see your professional fit and actively engaging in opportunities to build experience and skills necessary to get there.

This session will guide you through the process of determining possibilities for your future - in your current organization or beyond! Discussion will take place on how you can connect with others that serve as advocates for you in your professional development and how you can develop yourself as a marketable candidate in your industry of interest. Developing a road map for your future can make the process of getting to your destination a much more empowering and enjoyable one!
