Managing investments. Learning the basics to set your future up for success.

Ladies and Gentlemen: stop in before class to ensure that your future is bright. Lisa Ciccia of Fidelity Investments will speak about the critical investment basics.

Topics include:

  • Investment Strategies - Asset allocation, diversification
  • Retirement /Estate/College
  • Planning IRA differences/401K's/403B's
  • Thrift Plans with employers
  • Basic Investment Products
  • History and statistics of women and their financial management

WCB Study Abroad for MBA - Korea Business School ranked by the Financial Times

WCB has entered into collaborative agreements with two globally ranked MBA programs in South Korea. Students who are interested in exploring semester-long study abroad in these two universities are welcome to contact the Center for International Business.

The two universities are:

KAIST Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology http://www.kaist.edu/edu.html

The Executive MBA Program at Korea University Business School ranks 12th out of 100 comparable programs around the world, according to the Financial Times.

Professional Development Center Networking Reception: A Collaboration with the Xavier Women’s MBA Association

November 29th, 5-7 pm/Surkamp Family Conference Center – Alumni Center at Xavier

Williams College of Business MBAs, Juniors, Seniors and alumni are invited to this holiday Networking Reception. This is a great opportunity to connect with employers from the Greater Cincinnati area, fellow students and alums, faculty and staff.

The event will kick off with a discussion on effective networking tips by Maggie McClanahan, Associate Client Manager at Nielsen – and there will be plenty of time to put those tips to work throughout the night!

In the spirit of holiday giving, there will be a number of Xavier items as door prizes for attendees, including tickets to a Xavier Men’s Basketball Game (game TBD).

Attendees are also encouraged to bring donations for our featured non-profit, Faces without Places. This organization works to provide funding and educational resources to the thousands of children attending school in the Cincinnati area that are experiencing homelessness.

Securing an Internship and Understanding CPT/OPT (International Students Only)

October 29th, 4-5:30 pm/Gallagher Student Center 330

It is important for students to gain practical work experience during their college programs – to build valuable skills and to make yourself a more marketable candidate for the future. This session will provide an overview of options available for international students, including Curricular Practical Training and Optional Practical Training. You will also learn more about how to gain academic credit for internships while discovering tools and resources available to help you find an opportunity.

Note: All International Students (undergraduate and graduate) will receive an email directly from the Center for International Education on how to register for this webinar.

Session Four: Take Ownership of Your Career - Develop a Roadmap for the Future November 17th – 9:00 am – noon, Schiff Conference Center (Cintas Center)

Feeling stuck in your career? Unsure about what the future holds for you? You are not alone! An overwhelming number of professionals in the marketplace feel disengaged with their current career or a lack of control in what their futures may hold. In today's economic environment, it is important for professionals to take a proactive approach to career planning - determining where you see your professional fit and actively engaging in opportunities to build experience and skills necessary to get there.

This session will guide you through the process of determining possibilities for your future - in your current organization or beyond! Discussion will take place on how you can connect with others that serve as advocates for you in your professional development and how you can develop yourself as a marketable candidate in your industry of interest. Developing a road map for your future can make the process of getting to your destination a much more empowering and enjoyable one!
