| Speaker Series - Risk Management - Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery |
You are invited to the Business Continuity Disaster Recovery Seminar
2012 Xavier University Risk Management Series sponsored by KPMG LLP
Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) continues to be a board level agenda item. The question often asked is how robust should a program be to effectively manage risk? And does my Recovery Strategy really meet the organizations risk tolerance? Where am I overly exposed?
As new laws and regulations are introduced, their requirements challenge boards to greater levels of transparency, objectivity and professionalism. Increased accountability and potential exposure to liability means directors need to ensure that corporate governance standards are adhered to and robust compliance management systems are in place. KPMG LLP will provide relevant information and examples on BC/DR program structure and common gaps in recovery strategies, unifying governance, risk, compliance and assurance functions to achieve a consistent and holistic vision across your organization. The forum will also allow for interaction with a Disaster Recovery Manager from The Kroger Company.
Event Speakers:
David Shanaberger, Disaster Recovery Manager, The Kroger Company
Emily Frolick, Certified Business Continuity Professional, Managing Director, KPMG LLP
Date: Thursday, October 25, 2012
Location: Schiff Family Conference Center

| It Really Is About Who You Know |
About the MBA Executive Mentor Program:
The Williams College of Business (WCB) MBA Executive Mentor Program is not a traditional mentor program whereby a mentor counsels and nurtures a student on academic growth or professional direction. This program goes beyond these fundamental activities to focus on 1) identifying career goals and objectives, 2) delivery of informed, experienced opinions and advice, and 3) expanding a student’s career connections. Through their executive mentor, MBA students are provided a coach and a forum for networking, resulting in access and connections to influential business leaders and to an inside track for professional promotion and corporate leadership. This is not a job-placement service; there is no implied outcome of securing employment.
Getting Started:
To be eligible to apply for the Executive Mentor Program, you must attend one Executive Mentor Information Session. Upcoming information sessions will be:
- Monday, September 24th 3:00 pm
- Thursday, September 27th 1:30 pm
- Wednesday, October 3rd 3:00 pm
- Wednesday, October 3rd 6:00 pm

Whether you are looking for career opportunities in the region or pursuing a long distance job search, this session will provide tips to prioritize your career search outreach, effectively connect with others that may serve as advocates for you along the way and track your progress. Session Three: Beyond the Resume - Closing the Deal on Your Next Career
October 20th – 9 am – noon, Schiff Conference Center (Cintas Center)
So, you have submitted your resume and successfully landed an interview. Now what? Job seekers often spend an insane amount of time in preparing their resume, cover letter and submitting applications - only to move into the interview less prepared than they should be! Resumes pique the interest of a recruiter, but interviews close the deal. This interactive session is designed to offer an overview of the types of interviews you may encounter - phone interviews, traditional, behavior based, case study and more. Beyond the basics, learn tangible tips to master the interview process so that you make the best impression possible - while also gathering valuable insight on the organization to decide if it is the company and opportunity for you! Beyond the interview, this session will also discuss what to do when you get the job offer. Learn tools necessary to evaluate each offer with confidence. While salary is a factor, there are many other considerations when evaluating if an opportunity is for you - learn how to prioritize these for yourself. Discussion will also take place on the basics of negotiating, how to professionally accept/decline an offer and how to handle and compare multiple offers.
RSVP online at http://www.xavier.edu/williams/pdc/Events.cfm
A Cintas parking pass will be emailed to those who registered the week of the event. |
