| Career Management Workshop Series |
Session Two: Effective Job Search Strategies – Developing a Plan that Works
October 6th – 9 am – noon, Schiff Conference Center
Get yourself energized for the job search ahead! Discover the power of networking and learn effective job search strategies that keep you ahead of the competition. Simply applying to online jobs is rarely enough to find a career opportunity these days. Take control of your job search by creating a proactive and strategic plan for securing your next great opportunity! Whether you are looking for career opportunities in the region or pursuing a long distance job search, this session will provide tips to prioritize your career search outreach, effectively connect with others that may serve as advocates for you along the way and track your progress. Put a bit of order to the chaos of your job search and make strides in building your network as a result of this informative session!
Session Three: Beyond the Resume - Closing the Deal on Your Next Career
October 20th – 9 am – noon, Schiff Conference Center (Cintas Center)
So, you have submitted your resume and successfully landed an interview. Now what? Job seekers often spend an insane amount of time in preparing their resume, cover letter and submitting applications - only to move into the interview less prepared than they should be! Resumes pique the interest of a recruiter, but interviews close the deal. This interactive session is designed to offer an overview of the types of interviews you may encounter - phone interviews, traditional, behavior based, case study and more. Beyond the basics, learn tangible tips to master the interview process so that you make the best impression possible - while also gathering valuable insight on the organization to decide if it is the company and opportunity for you! Beyond the interview, this session will also discuss what to do when you get the job offer. Learn tools necessary to evaluate each offer with confidence. While salary is a factor, there are many other considerations when evaluating if an opportunity is for you - learn how to prioritize these for yourself. Discussion will also take place on the basics of negotiating, how to professionally accept/decline an offer and how to handle and compare multiple offers.
RSVP online at http://www.xavier.edu/williams/pdc/Events.cfm
A Cintas parking pass will be emailed to those who registered the week of the event. |
