On Wednesday, February 29, 2012, teams representing Northern Kentucky University Haile/US Bank College Business, Miami University Richard T. Farmer School of Business, University of Cincinnati College of Business, and Xavier University Williams College of Business competed in the final round of the 5th Annual ACG Cincinnati Cup competition. The Xavier University team, consisting of (pictured left to right): Michael Deye, Manoj Srivastav, Hamir Mahajan and Mark Momper, emerged victorious.

XMBA presents “The Non-Profit Experience” - Thursday, March 29th

Attention all Xavier MBA students, alumni, and friends! The Xavier Women’s MBA Association is presenting “The Non-Profit Experience” on Thursday, March 29th. Learn how to leverage your MBA to help a non-profit organization while building your resume and gaining valuable experience. Hear from local non-profit leaders and discover the value of a volunteer experience:

· Give back and make a difference
· Network with local leaders
· Gain valuable board experience
· Develop new skills to enhance your resume
· Obtain broader industry experience

Meet representatives from the following non-profit organizations*:

· Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding & Horsemanship
· Adopt A Class Foundation
· Junior Achievement
· Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency

Come prepared with business cards, resumes, or other contact information so you can really connect with the organizations. Check out our Facebook or LinkedIn pages for updates and additional information regarding the non-profits in attendance. Our pages will also include a list of what each organization is looking for help with (i.e. marketing, social media, process improvement, etc.).

Interlink Mentor Program

Students are encouraged to apply for the Interlink Mentor Program. Applications are due to the Center for International Education on March 2. The following link includes information about the program and the applications for both new and returning mentors. Applications are also available in the Center for International Education (GSC 230). Questions about the program should be directed to Laura Adkins, x2872 or adkinsl1@xavier.edu

The Interlink Program is a very important connection between international students and campus life. At the beginning of each semester, mentors assist new students with important logistical and practical parts of adjusting to campus life. As the semesters progress, mentors continue in the valuable roles of friend and resource.

Membership on the Interlink Team will allow mentors to build skills and will have an impact on those students involved in international student activities and on the campus as a whole throughout the year.

JUGAAD Competition - February 27th to March 26th

Jugaad - a colloquial Hindi word - means a creative idea that quickly leads to significant and measurable benefits. In the Jugaad competition that the Williams College of Business will hold, the following procedure will be followed.

Xavier/WCB Jugaad Competition: $10 (Ten Dollars) is given to each team. The time to work out a Jugaad (a creative idea that quickly leads to significant and measurable benefits) is four weeks. That is, each team should use the $10 investment and grow that investment to achieve significant and measurable benefits. For more information, click here.

Summer Elective Spotlight: MKTG 671

Marketing and Consumer Culture This seminar-style class will critically examine the consumer culture and role of marketing. The goal of the class is not to forward any particular stance. Instead, the class is envisioned as consisting of participants reflecting varying perspectives who will bring different viewpoints to jointly wrestle with the subject matter.

NSHMBA Scholarship Programs

The National Society of Hispanic MBAs offers two scholarship programs to assist qualified Hispanics to pursue MBAs; the NSHMBA Foundation Scholarship Program and the University Partner Scholarships Program. The NSHMBA Scholarship Program provide an opportunity for full-time and part-time MBA students to study at an accredited AACSB institution with scholarships, assistantships, and fellowships.

Network of Executive Women Scholarship

The Network of Executive Women (NEW) invites all full-time female graduate students or undergraduate students (junior year or higher) who are U.S. Citizens and enrolled in a retail, food or consumer packaged goods related program at a U.S. college or university to apply. You must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Click here for further details.

Parking Issues – Woodburn & Dana Lots

Parking in the lots at the corner of Dana & Woodburn, near Smith Hall, is not permitted unless there is an on-campus event such as a basketball game.

With safety in mind, students should park in Smith Lot (after 5:00pm), Lexington Lot, or Cintas lots, where there is heavier foot traffic, more patrol and emergency phones.

The Alumni Lot off of Dana after 5:00 is also an option.

Please refer to the campus map for the specific locations of these approved parking options.

Jesuit MBA Day of Service – Ronald McDonald House Donations

As part of an MBA initiative to give back to our community and the National Jesuit MBA Day of Service, the William's College of Business is partnering with the Ronald McDonald House to donate to their wish list.

Donation boxes will be placed on each floor of Smith Hall including the MBA Office in room 120B. The MBA Office is happy to accept cash donations to be used towards the purchase of additional requested items.
