Service Awards

Xavier Service Fellowships

Admission Application Option: Early Action
Scholarship application deadline: December 1, 2007

This full tuition, room and board, four-year fellowship is awarded to five incoming first-year students who have demonstrated high academic achievement, outstanding service to community, school, or church, and leadership in encouraging others to serve. Recipients of the fellowship perform regular community service during the academic year, and are expected to be leaders on campus in promoting awareness of and involvement in service opportunities. Selected fellows give part of their time to the promotion of service on the Xavier campus. All fellows are guided by their mentor as they reflect on their service experiences. Selected students will be interviewed on campus on February 23, 2008.

Selection Criteria

Preference is given to those students who have demonstrated exemplary involvement in volunteer service: that is, a superior level of in-depth service done with a quality and quantity which greatly exceeds what is expected by the applicant's school or church; have shown potential for leading other students in service; have attained a minimum score of 29 on the ACT composite or 1280 on the SAT; and who are in the top ten percent of their high school senior class. Xavier University's Scholarship Committee, composed of faculty, administrators, and student leaders, selects the recipients of the Service fellowships.

The service fellowship will cover the cost of the following items for four years:

  • Full tuition (up to 20 hours per semester)
  • Room and board
  • Orientation fee, science laboratory fees and modern language laboratory fees
