Community-Engaged Fellowship

Application Process

  • Students must submit a resume of activities
  • Students must provide one letter of recommendation
  • Students must submit an essay in response to the prompt below
  • All materials must be uploaded to your Application Status page by February 1, 2014


All students interested in applying for the Community-Engaged Fellowship must submit a resume of activities, a letter of reference and an essay of no more than 500 words on the following topic:

Discuss your most significant community-engaged service experience, making sure to address:

  • A description of the activities 
  • An explanation of what prompted you to get involved.
  • What did you learn about others, social conditions, or yourself as a result?
  • What were the significant outcomes for the community served?

On your essay please indicate your name and that you are applying for the Community-Engaged Fellowship.

Uploading Your Materials

The resume and essay must be uploaded to your Application Status page* in the Upload Materials section. Upload your resume by choosing Resume in the drop down menu. Upload your essay by choosing Community-Engaged Fellowship Upload in the drop down menu.

You may also want to include supporting materials in your application. Supporting materials can include copies of articles about your accomplishments or your own work (essays, poetry, speeches, etc.,) or other fixed forms that enhance your application.   If you would like to share videos or photography as part of your application, please include a link to YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, or another publically accessible internet site (no social media sites such as Facebook please).  Upload these additional materials by choosing Community-Engaged Fellowship Supporting Document Upload in the drop down menu and list and provide the links in a Word or PDF document with a short description.  Please do not mail or drop off DVD?s, CDs, or hard copies of supporting materials.  All materials must be uploaded by February 1, 2014.

Letter of Recommendation

Please provide one letter of recommendation from an instructor, mentor, coach, or other adult (non-related) who can best speak to your ability to engage community through service, or alternatively, from a community partner or organization that has benefited from your service or leadership. It is your responsibility to confirm the letter of reference has been sent. A signed letter of recommendation should be mailed directly to the Eigel Center by February 1, 2014, at the address below.

Submission of the letter of recommendation, resume and essay will serve as your application for the Community-Engaged Fellowship.
