O'Connor and Savage scholarships

The deadline nominations for the Paul L. O'Connor, S.J., and the Thomas G. Savage, S.J., scholarships has been moved up to Jan. 14. The chair of the sponsoring department should submit nomination materials to Christine Sisson in the Office of Student Financial Assistance by 5:00 p.m. on Jan. 30. Applications, previously due in April, are now due in January with decisions to be made in February. Holiday celebration today

Sr. Nancy Linenkugel, Brian Till and Janice Walker invite all faculty and staff to a Holiday Celebration today, Thursday, Dec. 18, from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. in the Smith Hall Atrium. The Colleges are partnering with Xavier Dining for a Holiday Toy Drive to benefit St. Aloysius Orphanage. Guests may bring a donation of an unwrapped game or toy. WOX grant applications

Applications for grants from the Women of Excellence Giving Circle Fund for 2015 are being accepted from Jan. 1-March 30. Each year, the Women of Excellence selects educational projects and programs of Xavier faculty, staff and student groups for funding with donations to the Giving Circle. The WOX grant application can be found online.

Minimum wage increase

The Office of Career Development is notifying supervisors of student workers about the State of Ohio's Minimum Wage increase effective Jan. 1. Wage increases will be absorbed by existing student wage allocations for FY15. Read the attached document to learn more.

Innovation training in January

The Center for Innovation has added five spaces for the innovation training session for faculty on Jan. 7. Contact center director Shawn Nason with questions at nasons1@xavier.edu. Currito Burrito appreciation day

Currito Burrito is offering all Xavier faculty and staff a 50-percent discount for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day on Thursday, Jan. 8. All faculty and staff will receive the discount for one meal per person. Please see the attached flier for details.

Educator of the Year awards

Rick Browne, professor of Health Services Administration, is the winner of the Innovative Educator of the Year Award, a new awards program for faculty and staff developed by the CINCO Family Financial Center Credit Union. The two runners-up are Nicholas Salsman, professor of chemistry, and Mary W. Stroud, professor of psychology. Read the press release to learn more.

Web time sheet reporting

Because of the Christmas and New Year's holiday break, support staff and student employee web time entry timesheets for the first payroll of 2015, due on Wednesday, Dec. 17, need to be approved today, Thursday, Dec. 18. Payment can't be guaranteed if timesheets are not submitted by the deadline. Please contact your supervisor when you have submitted your timesheet for approval. The payroll period for the Jan. 2 pay date is Dec. 15-Dec. 28 for support staff and Dec. 8-Dec. 21 for student employees.

Final grading reminder

Final grading is now open for all fall semester classes. To meet student expectations, grades should be submitted by noon on Tuesday, Dec. 23. It is vital that all final grades be submitted before this time for the deans to determine academic standing. Submitted grades are typically posted to academic records by 9:00 a.m. each business day. Faculty may submit grades via "Enter Final Grades" from the Faculty Services tab of the Self Service link on the Xavier Employee Hub. For more information, call the Registrar at 3941.
