Bookstore appreciation event
The annual Xavier University Bookstore appreciation event and sale has been extended through Monday, Dec. 9. To show its appreciation for the entire Xavier community, the bookstore is offering a 20-percent discount on all Xavier merchandise. Free refreshments are being provided, and shoppers can enter raffle prize drawings.
Food for fines
Canned goods and other non-perishable food items are being accepted as payment for overdue library fines through Thursday, Dec. 19. One food item waives $1 in fines. Please bring food items (ramen not accepted) to the circulation desk at the Connection Center on the third floor of the CLC. All donations are being donated to local food shelters. Parking website changes
In preparation for significant upcoming changes to the MyXU Luminus Portal, the authentication process for logging into the parking website is changing. Beginning Saturday, Dec. 7, clicking the My Parking Info channel will no longer automatically log users in but will prompt for a username and password. The login credentials to enter are the same as those used to access MyXU and Xavier's other network services.
The Xavier community is invited to an open forum for Alison Morgan, a candidate being interviewed for director of the University Library, on Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m., in CLC 309. Morgan is giving a presentation on the role of the library on an academic campus, followed by time for questions from faculty, staff and students. International graduation coffee
The Center for International Education is holding a graduation coffee hour on Dec. 11 from 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Clocktower Lounge to celebrate and congratulate the international students who have successfully completed their studies at Xavier. This is a potluck event. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share and to RSVP with Claire Archibald at firstname.lastname@example.org by today, Monday, Dec. 9.
Xavier is piloting a new video repository and creation tool called Echo 360. Faculty will have the ability to create their own videos with the tool's personal capture software. Echo 360 is fully integrated into Canvas. Learn more about Echo 360 at the Echo 360 website.
The 2014 Heartland Delta Faculty Conversations Conference is being held on campus from Friday, Feb. 14, through Saturday, Feb. 16. The conference theme is "The History of the Society of Jesus and Implications for Jesuit Education Today: Celebrating 200 Years of Restoration." Faculty delegates from 10 Jesuit universities, including Xavier, are attending.
