Provost area assembly
The Xavier community is invited to the Provost area assembly on Monday, March 9, from 3:00 p.m.-4:15 p.m. in the Duff Banquet Room at the Cintas Center. The event is being streamed live for those unable to attend in person.
March Gladness, a 48-hour celebration of Xavier, takes place from March 9-11. Join the #GladXavier team on Monday, March 9, for a Welcome Back Breakfast from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. to kick off the event with fun #GladXavier items and breakfast with your Xavier family. Healthy Start 2015
Xavier employees who smoke are reminded that a tobacco user surcharge becomes effective on Wednesday, July 1. The Office of Human Resources announced the $30 surcharge as a 2015 Medical Plan change during Open Enrollment. OHR acknowledges the challenge of quitting smoking and reminds employees that Xavier's health plans cover the cost of tobacco cessation drugs at 100 percent. Additional FMLA sessions
Because of a high level of interest, the Office of Human Resources has scheduled additional Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) programs in March. The additional dates are Thursday, March 12, from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m., and Friday, March 13, from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Both sessions are in the Alumni Center Room 132. Reservations are requested, though not required. Contact Rachel Luckey at firstname.lastname@example.org to register.
Student employee evaluations
Student employee supervisors must complete the 2014-2015 evaluation for their student employees by Tuesday, March 31. View the announcement to learn more. Spring break hours
Spring break hours of operation for all campus dining and retail offices are in place from Friday, Feb. 27, through Sunday, March 8. View a detailed list of hours by location.
The Office of University Communications offers the following workshops:
- Communications Toolkit Learning Session. Tuesday, March 3, 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Team members share the latest information for campus communicators including self-service templates, branding information and messaging points.
- Social Media Workshop. Wednesday, March 4, 2:30 p.m - 4:00 p.m. Team members present tools like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn as well as tips about advertising, data analysis and building your network.
- Content Creation, Good Storytelling and Media Relations Workshop. Thursday, March 5, 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. The office's creative experts offer insight into what makes a good story.

"Ireland in Word and Music"
On Sunday, March 8, Bellarmine Chapel presents its annual program, "Ireland in Word and Music," in Kennedy Auditorium in the Conaton Learning Center. The event is free but attendees are encouraged to make a contribution for the work of Joe Mulligan, S.J., in Nicaragua. Visitors may park in either the Admissions lot or the Smith Hall lot. Mozart's "Requiem" tickets
The Cincinnati Ballet presents Mozart's "Requiem" on March 20-21 accompanied by the Xavier University Chorus at the Aronoff Center for the Arts. This production premiered in 2010 and is recommended for a more mature audience. Attached is a form offering a 20-percent discount on tickets for faculty, staff and students. Girls soccer camp
Head women's soccer coach Woody Sherwood offers June and July soccer camp sessions for girls ages 7-13. Faculty and staff can sign their children up for a discounted rate of $150 per week by printing and mailing a completed brochure. More information can be found at the Sherwood Soccer Academy website.
Sustainability summer camp
Rising 9th-12th graders can spend a week at Xavier learning how Cincinnati residents, business owners and civic officials are solving large-scale environmental challenges. Take field trips into the community to explore some of our region's environmental success stories. Canoe on the Mill Creek, tour Carriage House Farm, operate compost tubs and learn how Xavier is going to zero food waste. The camp is from June 15-19. Register by May 15.
