The Office of Human Resources announces a new series of professional development tools to be presented in sessions beginning in February. These sessions support Xavier's institutional values and provide an opportunity for employees to gain valuable information and build community among colleagues. Topics include Coaching and Feedback, Employee Development Plans, Customer service and more. Register today for the first session, "Creating a Culture of Service eXcellence." At least 10 registrants are needed for each session.
CTE diversity workshop
All are invited to a keynote address by Francis Godwyll, PhD, titled, “When Silence is not an Option: Creating Space for Marginalized Voices," from 3:00 p.m.-4:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15, in Kennedy Auditorium. The event, sponsored by the Center for Teaching Excellence, addresses the alienation of various cultural groups in educational settings globally. The CTE is also offering a follow-up workshop, "Addressing Diversity in the Classroom," on Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., with lunch served at noon. Anyone planning on voting in the primary election on Tuesday, March 15, must be registered by Tuesday, Feb. 16. Registration will be set up in the Fenwick Atrium on Monday, Feb. 8, Wednesday, Feb. 10, and Friday, Feb. 12, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
Seeking large suitcases
The 2016 Guatemala Medical Service Team is asking for donations of large suitcases to help carry medical supplies to the Guatemalan clinic. This trip supports a local village in Guatemala every year by providing basic medical needs for the community and also gives Xavier medical students a chance for hands on experience. Fabric of Survival
Esther Krinitz's work is now on display in the Gallagher Student Center as part of the Fabric of Survival exhibit. See her fabric collages and hear the audio tour on your phone for an in-depth look at Esther's survival story as a young girl during the Holocaust. Also attend the reception on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the GSC Clock Tower Lounge, featuring the film, "Through the Eye of the Needle," and a short presentation by Esther's daughter, Bernice Steinhardt.
