Admission to the Xavier University Theatre program is competitive. Any student interested in being considered as a Xavier theatre major must audition and interview with the Theatre faculty. This process includes either an audition or tech/design presentation and a personal interview.

It is required that you start the process by submitting either the Xavier Online Application or the Common Application. Applicants can then submit the Theatre Major Application. Once the theatre application has been received, you will be contacted by the department to set an audition/interview time.

Once a date and time have been chosen, applicants to the theatre program who are interested in performance should prepare two pieces: either two monologues or one monologue and one song. Please bring sheet music if you plan to sing. All pieces should be contemporary.

Applicants to the theatre program who are interested in technical theatre and design should bring a portfolio of past materials to share with the faculty.

Applicants to the Theatre Education program should set an interview time. No portfolio or audition pieces are required. Please be prepared to speak about your desire to teach theatre.

If you have any questions about the Theatre Admission Process or the Theatre program, please contact Stephen Skiles.
