Study abroad opportunities for Xavier students abound: short term, long-term, Xavier-sponsored, direct exchanges, programs sponsored by other universities and providers. Xavier University students are encouraged to include a study abroad experience in their academic programs for the many reasons. More than 250 XU students study abroad each year. Programs are available in dozens of locations around the world.
To help fulfill the mission of Xavier University which states: "Jesuit education seeks to develop... a world view that is oriented to responsible action..."
- Increased knowledge and understanding of the world through first-hand experience.
- Development of language skills.
- Personal growth and increased self-confidence.
- Acquisition of multicultural perspectives which complement any field of study.
- Career enhancement.
In addition to opportunities sponsored through Xavier, the Office of Study Abroad is a resource center that advises students about opportunities sponsored by other universities, consortia, and institutes. The office of study abroad provides information on short-term and long-term academic programs, internships, and work placements. Students are encouraged to maximize the benefits from a study abroad experience by planning early.
