Eligibility & Requirements
The applicant must be in good standing at the University, and must demonstrate the maturity and flexibility to adjust to a new culture, as well as the ability to comply with the rigors, structures and demands of the program. In addition, the student must be in good health and must be able to work well both independently and with others.
In addition, students interested in participating in one of the programs must have completed the following courses prior to their departure date:
- Philosophy 100
- Theology 111
- Latin American History (for Nicaragua program only)
- Spanish 102 (for Nicaragua program only)
Please note: The Service Learning Semesters are not generally available for first year students. However, if there is interest in future participation in these programs, first year students should avoid choosing courses listed in this brochure as they register for courses.
Application
Applications for the 2012-2013 programs are due February 10th, 2012 at 5pm in the Center for International Education (GSC 230).
The application process requires completion of a student profile, a personal essay, recommendations from two faculty members, an interview and a $100 deposit upon acceptance.
Cost
Program costs include current Xavier tuition plus a special program fee which is equivalent to room and board. Financial aid and scholarships apply to all programs. Airfare is included with the international programs.
