                                                             SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDY ABROAD

     Two need-based scholarships, each worth $600 will be awarded to full-time Xavier students participating in a XAVIER-
     sponsored study abroad program for academic credit during the summer of 2009

     1. Qualifications
                A student must
                * Demonstrate financial need
                * Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75
                *Have been accepted into his/her chosen program by 
                Friday, April 17, 2009

               *NOT be the recipient of any other study abroad scholarship
                (excluding federal or state financial aid)

                Note: Preference will be given to first time study abroad participants

      2. Application
               A student, to be considered for this scholarship, must
               *Submit a completed application form to the 
               Director of Study Abroad, Margaret McDiarmid,
               Schott 907 by FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2009

              *Submit an essay of no more than 250 words explaining
               the reasons why the applicant wants to study abroad and how 
               the experience will impact his/her academic experience

              *Have submitted the FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA for 2009.
               Note: These forms are available in the Office of Financial Aid or on the internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

                          Netherlands (Maastricht-WCB)
                          Ireland                                         Israel
                          England (Honors)                         Italy (Honors)
                          France (Honors)                           Italy (Assisi)
                          Ecuador 
                          (or any other approved Xavier summer program)
