Play Submissions:
Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative (CPI) Invites
Manuscript Submissions
Year-round CPI New Voices Series Competition
CPI invites writers and playwrights who are
residents of the Tri-State area
(OH, KY, IN) or who currently live and work in
the Tri-State counties, to
submit one full-length Unproduced play script or
up to three Unproduced one-acts
for consideration for public staged readings as
part of the New Voices Series.
There is no deadline--submissions to this New
Voices Series Competition are
accepted year round.
Submission guidelines:
Include Two Cover Pages with your name, address,
phone, email, and title of
manuscript.
Include a copy of your UNBOUND manuscript(s)
with Title only on the Title
Page. Your name must not appear anywhere on the
manuscript.
Plays can be on any subject, in any style.
Keep a copy of your script--Do Not Send Your
Only Copy.
Do not send return postage--Scripts are not
returned.
Plays can be full-length, one-act, or musical
(No screenplays).
Plays must be neat and printed / typed in an
identifiable format.
Authors must be residents of, or currently
living and working in the
Tri-State--OH, KY or IN.
If you are not already a member of CPI, a $15
entry fee (check only) must
accompany the manuscript(s). The $15 annual
membership dues entitles you to all
the rights and privileges of a CPI member.
Submissions are accepted year
round. No entries will be returned, so keep a
copy of your manuscript. You will be
contacted only if your play is chosen for the
Series. Response time varies
from 2 months to one year.
Entries should be sent with $15 check payable
to: CPI. Please be sure to
include full author contact information
(address, phone, email) on Cover Pages.
Mail your manuscript, cover pages, and check to:
CPI New Voices Series, CPI, P.O. Box 19969,
Cincinnati, OH 45219-0969.
The New Voices Series of public staged readings
is held at the Aronoff
Center, Fifth Third Bank Theater. CPI and the
Cincinnati Arts Association are
co-sponsors of the series. Local actors and
directors present the performance.
The series season runs from September to June.
All staged readings are on
Tuesday evenings and begin at 7:30 pm. After
the readings, audiences are invited
to provide feedback to the author whose work was
presented. Tickets are only
$7 ($4 students) at the door on night of
performance. Reservations and
