First Year Student Program
Manresa is our 4-day new student orientation program. The name "Manresa" refers to the town in Spain where Saint Ignatius Loyola took time to reflect on his life - past, present, and future. This parallels the reflection you will experience as you begin your collegiate career. Manresa will give you the opportunity to look back on your past, enjoy your present and set goals for where you want to be. Take this fun-filled opportunity to acquaint yourself with Xavier and relieve any social, spiritual, or academic worries you may have prior to the start of classes.
A primary goal of Manresa is for students to make the transition to life at Xavier. New students and their families are introduced to the campus, Xavier's programs, faculty, administrators, and other students and families. Most importantly, Manresa welcomes you as a member of the Xavier family and addresses any questions, concerns or curiosities you might have about the experiences Xavier has to offer.

Some thoughts on Manresa
"Manresa was a wonderful way to transition into the college experience. Not only did I become more comfortable with Xavier's campus and all of the opportunities that it had to offer, but I was also exposed to the incredibly welcoming community of Xavier. The faculty, staff, group leaders, fellow students and classmates all contributed to an extremely fun-filled and informative weekend!"

“Manresa is the perfect way for students to begin their college career. It eliminates the awkward getting-to-know-your-peers phase and gives everyone opportunities to make new friends. I felt extremely comfortable around my small group even after just a few hours. Not only were the activities (illusionist Craig Karges, Camp Kern, Black & White Dance) throughout the weekend fun, but they were informative and helped my classmates and I to transition into college life at Xavier. Manresa was an awesome experience and a great way to start my life at Xavier.”
