2013 Family Weekend Schedule of Events

3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Family Weekend Check-In / On-Site Registration
Gallagher Student Center - First Floor

Please stop by the front desk of the Gallagher Student Center to pick up your Family Weekend registration packet containing your wristband(s) to attend Family Weekend events or register your family if you did not pre-register. 

This year, the first 450 families to check-in will also receive a Family Weekend Fleece Blanket as a memento. Your Xavier student or a member of your family must check-in during the hours of operation to receive your registration packet, wristband(s) and fleece blanket.

Check-In Hours:  Friday from 3pm-8pm and 9am-1pm on Saturday.

5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Musketeer Fanfest on the Plaza
Cintas Center Plaza

Come and enjoy music, games and fun before heading into the Cintas Center for Musketeer Madness. Activities will include inflatable games for kids, corn hole and much more! Skyline Chili and Trauth Dairy / Dean Foods will be on hand to serve Cincinnati?s favorite chili and ice cream.

Musketeer Madness *
Cintas Center

Musketeer Madness is the tip-off event for fans as the men?s and women?s basketball teams gear up for the 2013-14 season, Xavier?s inaugural season in the Big East Conference. The event will include a free t-shirt for the first 1,500 fans ages 18 & over, foam fingers for the first 1,000 kids ages 17 & under, team introductions, a skills competition and intra-squad scrimmages for both basketball teams. Presented this year by Skyline Chili, Musketeer Madness is a Family Weekend tradition and favorite!

7:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

The Crucible
Gallagher Student Center Theater

In Salem in the late 1600s, a group of young girls accuse others of witchcraft sparking an alarming series of events. The leaders of the church respond with suspicion and put those accused on trial for their lives ultimately leaving a town in fear, and the man at the center of it all questioning his faith and morality. A co-production with Cincinnati Shakespeare Company and Xavier Theatre, featuring members of CSC?s acting ensemble and Xavier University students, this heart-pounding drama is both a gripping historical play and a
timely parable of our contemporary society.

Additional fee charged for tickets:
All students - $15, General Adult - $30, Faculty/Staff - $20, Seniors (age 65+) - $26

Crucible tickets ordered through the Family Weekend website can be found in your registration packet. The Gallagher Student Center Box Office will be open for will-call pick-up and for sales of tickets not ordered through the Family Weekend website from 6:30pm ? 8:30pm Friday ? Sunday and also from 4-6pm on Friday and 1-3pm on Saturday.

Men's Club Volleyball Tournament *
Schmidt Fieldhouse

Come out to support the members of the Men's Club Volleyball team as they compete to be tournament champions. In the spirit of raising awareness and supporting breast cancer, the team will be wearing pink.

The group is the recent recipient of Club Sports Men's Club of the Year and the Men's Highest Overall GPA Award.  Way to go!  Admission to this event is included with your Family Weekend registration fee.

*This event is intended for PPP Honors Program students and their families.

Join the faculty and students of the PPP Honors Program as they welcome their families to campus with our second annual Family Weekend reception. A brief program featuring presentations by faculty members, students and alumni will be followed by a reception for family members visiting campus. A light breakfast and beverages will be provided.

10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Free admission to O?Connor Sports Center *

FREE admission to O'Connor Sports Center with your Family Weekend wristband! You must provide a valid photo ID and sign a liability waiver. Check out our facility - we would love to have you join us! *Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Brunch on Campus *
Hoff Marketplace, Bishop Fenwick Place

Come and enjoy a full service brunch at the Hoff Marketplace including all your breakfast favorites. Guests will enjoy made to order omelets, delicious breakfast potatoes and meats, breakfast sandwiches, bagels and breakfast breads, fresh fruit and yogurt, as well as make your own X waffle and more! Dining on campus never tasted so good! Brunch is included with your registration fee.

Musketeer Family Fun *
North Xavier Yard

Join us on the Xavier Yard for fun free interactive activities including face painting, caricatures and a balloon artist. It is fun for the whole family!

In the spirit of raising awareness and supporting breast cancer, the team will be wearing pink.  Come out to support the team as they take on their hometown rivals ? the University of Cincinnati!

Intramural Sports Family Field Day *
Outdoor Volleyball and Basketball Courts

Come out to the sand volleyball and outdoor basketball courts for some play time! Shoot baskets, play sand volleyball or cornhole. Feel free to play a game with your family and/or participate in fun competitions like Horse and Knockout organized by our intramural sports student employees.

Resident Housing Tours *
The Commons, The Village & Bishop Fenwick Place

Get a sneak peek at some of the on-campus housing options so you are ready to make your next housing selection! Residence Life will be offering tours of the Commons Apartments, Village Apartments and Bishop Fenwick Place. Tours will commence at the front entrance of The Commons, the courtyard at The Village and in the lobby of Bishop Fenwick Place.

Come out and celebrate the rich tradition, history and team unity that is Xavier Men?s Rugby.  Feel the excitement of the group of men that finished last season nearly undefeated. 

In the spirit of raising awareness and supporting breast cancer, the team will be wearing pink and hosting a pink firetruck. Stop by to sign the truck and show your support for the fight against cancer.

Xavier has an incredible amount of talented students and we want to share their gifts with you during Family Weekend. The showcase will feature performances from select groups on campus
as well as individuals interested in performing. Join us in celebrating our talented musketeers!

2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Stand-up Paddleboarding and Kayak Demo *
O?Connor Sports Center Pool

Try the fastest growing paddle sport in America; Stand-up Paddle Boarding. This activity combines the skill of paddling with the upright position of surfing.

Always wanted to try kayaking? Learn paddle techniques from a certified kayak instructor. The instructor will be using equipment funded through the Boater?s Water Safety Grant for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Please bring your own swimsuit and towel; locker rooms will be available.

In their last home game of the year, the Musketeers take on the Blue Demons from DePaul University. Come out to support the team as they match up against one of their Big East contenders and help the team celebrate ?Senior Day?. It is also ?Kick or Treat? Day. The best Halloween costume will win a Xavier prize and the first 150 Xavier students in attendance will receive a free t-shirt.

 A Night of Laughs: Tracey Ashley Comedy Show *
Cintas Center Banquet Rooms

Don?t miss our headline performer on Saturday night ? Tracey Ashley. Entertaining audiences on college campuses for the past decade, Tracey combines her hilarious comedy and sharp wit with stories of growing up in the South and her observations of strange, everyday happenings of family life. She has been showcased on campuses all across the US and was seen as a semi-finalist on NBC?s Last Comic Standing as well as co-host to TVLAND?s Prime Movies.  Seating is limited for this performance.
