2014 Family Weekend Schedule of Events

Family Weekend Check-In / On-Site Registration
Gallagher Student Center - First Floor

Please stop by the front desk of the Gallagher Student Center to pick up your Family Weekend registration packet containing your wristband(s) to attend the Family Weekend events or register your family if you did not pre-register. 

This year, the first 500 families to check-in will also receive a Family Weekend Fleece Blanket as a memento. Your Xavier student or a member of your family must check-in during the hours of operation to receive your registration packet, wristband(s) and fleece blanket.

Check-In Hours:  Friday from 3pm-7pm and on Saturday from 9am-1pm.

The Xavier University Parents Association and the Parents / Family Advisory Board (P/FAB) Hospitality Reception
Ryan's Pub - Gallagher Student Center Lower Level

Please join members of the Parents Association and the Parents/Family Advisory Board for an opportunity to mix and mingle with other parents and friends attending Family Weekend.  Complimentary appetizers will be served.

Musketeer Fanfest on the Plaza
Cintas Center Plaza

Come and enjoy music, games and fun before heading into the Cintas Center for Musketeer Madness.  Activities will include inflatable games for kids, corn hole and much more!  Skyline Chili and Trauth Dairy / Dean Foods will be on hand to serve Cincinnati's favorite chili and ice cream.  There will be a charge for Skyline Chili.  Ice cream is complimentary. 

7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Musketeer Madness
Cintas Center Arena

Musketeer Madness is the tip-off event for fans as the men's and women's basketball teams gear up for the 2014-15 season in the Big East Conference, The event will include a t-shirt giveaway, team introductions, a skills competition and intra-squad scrimmages for both basketball teams. Presented by Skyline Chili, Musketeer Madness is a Family Weekend tradition and favorite!

7:00 p.m.

Women's Club Soccer vs. University of Cincinnati
Varsity Soccer Field

Head down to the Varsity Soccer Complex to support women's club soccer as they take on their arch rivals, the University of Cincinnati.

All Xavier athletes will be sporting pink shoelaces, wristbands or socks to raise awareness and support the fight against breast cancer.  October is national breast cancer awareness month.  Wear pink and show your support!

Godspell *
Gallagher Student Center Theater

Godspell, a production of the Xavier Department of Music and Theater, is based on the Gospel of St. Matthew.  A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and a hefty dose of comic timing.  An eclectic blend of songs ranging in style from pop to vaudeville is employed as the story of Jesus' life dances across the stage.  Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life.  Led by the international hit, "Day By Day" Godspell features a parade of beloved songs including "Prepare Ye The Way of the Lord", "Learn Your Lessons Well", "All For The Best", "All Good Gifts", "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side".

General admission ticket prices:
Faculty/Staff/Student/Senior - $12,   Adults - $17 

The Xavier University Theater Box Office will be open from 2:00pm - 8:00pm  on Friday.  It will reopen on Saturday at 1:00pm and again at 6:30pm, one hour prior to show times.

Purchase the 2014 "X-Shirt" revealed at the Musketeer Madness on Friday night or celebrate the season by trying a Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks.  Check your Family Weekend registration packet for promotional coupons to be used at both locations.  Enter to win raffle prizes throughout the weekend!

♦ This event is intended for PPP Honors Program students and their families. 

Join the faculty and students of the PPP Honors Program as they welcome their families to campus with their annual Family Weekend reception.  A brief program featuring presentations by faculty members, students and alumni will be followed by a reception for family members visiting campus.  A light breakfast and beverages will be provided.

Come on down to the newly remodeled outdoor tennis courts located next to the intramural fields and cheer on the Xavier Club Tennis Team as they take on Northern Kentucky University, Denison, Akron and Dayton in tournament action.

Brunch on Campus
Hoff Marketplace, Bishop Fenwick Place

Come and enjoy a full service brunch at the Hoff Marketplace including all your breakfast favorites. Guests will enjoy made to order omelets, delicious breakfast potatoes and meats, breakfast sandwiches, bagels and breakfast breads, fresh fruit and yogurt, as well as make your own X waffle and more! Dining on campus never tasted so good!   Brunch is included with your registration fee.

Get a sneak peek at some of the on-campus housing options so you are ready to make your next housing selection!  Residence Life will be offering tours of the Commons Apartments and Bishop Fenwick Place.  Tours will commence at the front entrance of The Commons and in the lobby of the Fenwick Place Atrium.

Cheer on the Musketeers as they take on Bellarmine University.  The game will be played at Clark Montessori which is just a short 3 miles from campus.

Xavier Fall Family Fest

Join the Student Activities Council on the Xavier Yard for trunk or treat and a fun family photo op.  Participate in pumpkin painting, the pie eating contest and the cake walk while you enjoy popcorn balls and hot chocolate.  Fun for the whole family!

 Comedy Night with Amy Anderson

Don't let the name fool you...  Amy would describe herself as "a funny American girl who happened to be born in Korea and adopted by Swedish parents in suburban Minnesota".  Amy is a one-of-a-kind on the comedy scene and her act will remind you to never judge a book by its cover. 

Amy balances her comedy career and being mother of her daughter, Aubrey, the little girl who plays "Lily" on ABC's Modern Family.  Since moving to L.A., Amy has established herself as one of the hottest up-and-coming comedians in the country.  She was selected for both NBC's and CBS' Multicultural Comedy Showcases and created the first ever Asian American stand up showcase Chop-SHTICK, at the Hollywood Improv.  You can see Amy on Comedy Central, SITV, Mun2, VH1, GSN and The Tom Joyner Show and on several national television commercials.
