Master of Education in Special Education
Special education programs at Xavier University are committed to the educational and professional preservice preparation of students to be ethically, morally, intellectually and socially competent teachers of students with disabilities to meet the demands and the standards required by the State of Ohio Board of Education.
To receive the Master of Education in special education degree, the student must complete the core education courses and at least 18 semester hours from the licensure concentration courses, which will be selected in consultation with the program director.
Program concentrations include:
- Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist
- Moderate/Intensive Intervention Specialist
- Early Childhood Intervention Specialist
- Gifted/Talented Intervention Specialist
The Master of Education degree with a concentration in one of the above areas will provide training for teachers of children requiring specialized and individualized educational programs.
