Resident Student Association
President's Report to Senate - April 29, 2002
1)
Issues
Currently handling these
issues:
- Safety
of crossing at Dana and Herald. City of Cincinnati Traffic Engineering is
now evaluating a proposal to place a painted median at the crossing.
- Laundry.
We will be surveying residents in the fall (during move-in) about the
possibility of going to a fee-based laundry. We’ll use the results in
addition to other input (if necessary) to propose a plan prior to fees being
set.
- Smoke-free
buildings. Residence life conducted a survey on going smoke-free during the
housing lottery this Spring. Taking into account the results and opinions of
the community councils, RSA is supporting buildings being completely
smoke-free. Currently there are a few smoking rooms in Husman.
- Voice
mail. Natasha Hamilton pursued with Steve Weissenburger and Ava Jean Fiebig
acquiring voice mail for all residents on the University phone system. The
project is currently awaiting a review by Ava of the current resident
technology budget and other funding sources.
