Resident Student Association
President's Report to Senate - January 28, 2002

1)       Issues

Currently handling these issues:

2)       Programming

We have the major programs scheduled for this semester:

·         Roommate Game – Tuesday, February 19 – 8:00 pm

·         Spring Bingo – Friday, April 26 – 9:30 pm

It is important to remember that the bulk of RSA’s programming comes through the community councils, not the Executive, hence 65% of programming funds go to community councils.

The councils are looking to work together on a custodian appreciation day for this semester.

3)       National Affiliation

A delegation will be traveling to Case Western Reserve, Cleveland, OH, for the CAACURH No-Frills Conference over winter break. Mark Mishra, National Communications Coordinator, will be in business meetings for the most of the conference.

Steve Weissenburger, President, will be presenting to CAACURH Presidents “Empowering your people: making representatives voting members”: as we enter a new millennium, hierarchies are being replaced with teams as more people are empowered in organizations. This program will discuss why RHAs using a “traditional structure” should consider giving representatives voting power. We’ll investigate why empowerment is important, examples of structures giving reps voting power and arguments against such structures.

Former NCC, Jaison Miles, will be bidding for a Regional Board position.
