Resident Student Association Issues
Communication of Damage Costs

Background
It has come to our attention that residents are concerned with the lack of communication about community damage costs during the course of the school year.

Information
Residence Life evaluates when damages occur which are not accounted for their response which can be a variety of things including, but not limited to, letters to residents about damage.

During Fall 2000 and Spring 2001, damages not accounted occurred in Brockman during the early part of the year (these damages were accounted for in late Spring 2001) and during Spring final exams.

During Fall and Spring Residence Life did distribute letters on several occasions to inform residents on unaccounted damages.

As part of the housing contract, residents do incur any damage cost deemed significant that is unaccounted for and/or is not a result of normal wear and tear. Comparably, in public school facilities (i.e. a public high school) unaccounted damage costs are incurred by the tax payers of the area. Residence Life will continue its policy of keeping the residents actively informed of damage unaccounted for.

Residents should be aware of the policy and hold themselves accountable for the benefit of the community.
