Student Success and Retention

Apply for a Summer School Grant

The Xavier University Summer School Grant Program began in 1995.  It is designed to help full-time undergraduate Xavier students with some of the cost associated with enrolling in summer classes at Xavier.  The summer grant is awarded based upon financial need and the number of credit hours enrolled.  There is limited funding in the Summer Grant program and this grant is awarded on a first come first served basis.

Students stand to benefit in many ways by taking summer courses:

  • They can devote more time to courses that may require more focus and attention then they can give in the regular semester.
  • By repeating courses and achieving satisfactory grades they may improve their grade point average.  In some cases they may even remore themselves from probation.
  • They can earn academic credits, which allow them to progress toward early graduation.
  • They can regain academic eligibility for federal and state financial aid.
  • They can put themselves back on the path toward graduation in four years.

Eligibility requirements for the Summer Grant:

  • Awarded to undergraduate Xavier students enrolled in summer classes at Xavier.
  • Awarded to students who file the FAFSA.
