Residence Life
Special Needs & Requests
On the housing preference form, there is an item that requests that you disclose any special needs that you might have as a student. Special needs is broadly defined because our office uses that information for a variety of purposes.
- To assign you to an appropriate space in on-campus housing
- To assist you in referrals to other campus resources
- To assist you in making the adjustment to university and residential living
- To better assist you in case of an emergency
For example, if you have a physical challenge and require an ADA compliant unit, the university will make reasonable accommodations in on-campus housing. We are committed to working with special needs throughout your tenure in on-campus housing. Most situations are unique and require individual attention. If you have a special need, please contact the Director of Residence Life. We will discuss your situation, assess in what ways it can be addressed, and resolve any problems together.
