is the difference between graduation and commencement? |
Graduation
is when degrees are awarded. Xavier awards degrees three times a year,
at the end of each semester; in May, August, and December. Commencement
is a ceremony celebrating graduations. |

are the upcoming ceremonies? |
Xavier
offers one commencement ceremony each year, held on a Saturday in May.
The spring ceremony takes place the Saturday of the week following exams. |

| How
do I apply for graduation? |
Graduation
applications are filed through the Office of the Registrar. They can be
picked up or you can request one be sent to you or
get
one here.

if you want to graduate! |

| When
is the deadline for graduation application? |
Graduation
applications for August graduation were due at the beginning of June; applications
for December graduation are due The beginning of October; and applications
for May graduation are due the first week of spring classes. |

| Can
I participate in the Commencement ceremony even if I will not be graduating? |
Yes!
Undergraduates who are within 12 hours of graduating, and Graduate students
who are within 6 hours of graduating are invited to participate in the
commencement. These students need to fill out a walker application. Please note that
students who walk in the ceremony must fill out another graduation application
for the semester they will actually be eligible to complete their degree. |

| Is
there a fee for graduation? |
Yes.
There is a $50, one time graduation fee which is applied to your bursar
bill when you complete a graduation application. There is an additional
$50 late fee assessed to those applications received after the deadline
has passed. |

| What
will happen to my diploma? |
You
can pick it up at the Commencement ceremony, pick it up at the Office of
the Registrar, or have it mailed to you. If we do not hear from you otherwise
we will automatically send it to you through the mail a few weeks after
graduation. Please remember that all financial obligations to the university
must be met prior to the release of your diploma. |

| Do
diplomas cost anything? |
No;
their price is included in the graduation fee. |
|
|
| Can
I get another copy of my diploma? |
Yes;
additional diplomas cost $30 and can be purchased through the Office of
the Registrar. |
