CTE Brown Bag Lunch-Talking about Race in the Classroom: Xavier's History

Time: 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM
Date: Monday, March 11
Location: CTE Faculty Lounge
Description:

Grab your lunch and join us for a brief presentation by Dr. Walker Gollar as he explores, with useful photographs, connections between the Jesuits, race relations, Cincinnati, and Xavier’s early history.  This will be followed by a more informal discussion with faculty: what’s the context for talking about race in the Xavier classroom?  In addition to fueling possible future discussions (like “how are we currently talking about race in the classroom?”; and “how can we do this better at Xavier?”), this presentation will provide the chance to identify a core of faculty ready to form a Faculty Learning Community on some aspect of this topic—focusing on race, or addressing diversity more generally in the classroom.
