Equestrian

As a member of the Xavier Equestrian Team you will be able to compete against the best riders in the nation in hunter seat equitation. Shows are run by the IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) and are held throughout the school year.

In addition to regional shows at the University of Miami (OH), Morehead State, Midway College and at Lakeside Arena (in a show we co-hosted with the University of Kentucky), the Xavier Equestrian Team was also able to participate in the fall national invitational Tournament of Champions at Cazenovia College in New York and in the winter Tournament of Champions at the University of Georgia. This past year, half of our team qualified individually for the regional championships and sophomore Sarah Krings was first in the region in the intermediate over fences division.

Collegiate riding allows the opportunity to ride and show at a much lower cost than for traditional horse shows. Horses and riding equipment (saddles, bridles, etc.) are provided by the host college for each show, and you get to compete against riders with the same level of experience that you have. This ranges from true beginners to Medal and Maclay riders and everyone in between.

In addition to weekend shows (two to three a semester), you will also be able to take weekly lessons with our Coach Jim Arrigon at Beckett Run Farm.

Jan. 26-27 in Chatham, VA.
Feb. 16-17 at Morehead
March 1-2 at the University of Kentucky
March 8 - Regional Finals
April 12 - Zones Finals at Findlay
May 8-11 National Finals: LA Eq. Center, CA.
