The Doc Comparetto Award

The Doc Comparetto Award is awarded to the Xavier University Club Sport of the Year. The club sport of the year is determined by the Club Sport Council based on a variety of criteria.
Dr. John E. ("Doc") Comparetto, a podiatric surgeon and life long boxer, devoted his time to the Xavier University Boxing Club from 1986 until his death in September of 2004. Doc knew the inner strength boxing imbued in its participants, and gladly volunteered his time several nights a week during the school year in the armory, as he watched generations of students grow into transformed people as a result of participating with the boxing club.
