Martial Arts

The Xavier Martial Arts Club is dedicated to bringing the tradition, discipline and body/mind unity to the Xavier campus that comes from the study of martial arts. Our club's focus is Taekwondo which has been an Olympic sport since 2000. We are a branch of Ahn's Taekwondo Institute, which operates schools all over the U.S.A. Our Instructor, Senior Master James Beasley 7th Dan black belt, has 37 years training in Taekwondo, Karate, and Judo. Mr. Ryan Newburn, a 4th degree black belt and mechanical engineer for GE, is our Assistant Instructor.

Taekwondo is very much an individual sport. Traditional and competitve training is used to improve fitness and thinking. Through discipline and respect the Olympic
dream can be achieved.

DO SOMETHING FUN OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM.

For the 2009-2010 school year our practices are held every Monday and Thursday from 6:00-8:00pm in the Armory. Our club is open to all Xavier students, faculty and staff. Instructional fees for the semester are $5.00 per week. So be part of the Olympic experience.
